September marks the beginning of the fall season - one of our favorite times to travel. The summer crowds have dissipated, prices are more affordable and spirits are upbeat. There are many colorful fall festivals and events around the world.

On October 7th, we are hosting the North Florida Travel Show  (See details below). Also, in December we will attend the annual Signature Conference and Trade Show. This is when the cruise and tour companies and other travel suppliers present their offers for 2018 and early 2019. If you haven't already planned ahead, now is your best time to get exactly what you want and secure the best rate. Our travel consultants are available to help you plan your dream vacation.

We look forward to meeting you personally.

Best wishes

Explore the British Isles

With apologies to Robert Browning and some paraphrasing, oh to be in England now that spring is there.  So this past May we headed across the Atlantic for a few nights in London before embarking on the Caribbean Princess for a 12-day British Isle Cruise.  Cruising made visits to interesting ports more accessible than if trying to do the same by land and ferry crossings. I want to share some of my favorites with you.

We embarked in Southampton and it was across the English Channel to Guernsey,   a small island but the 2nd largest of the Channel Islands.  Just eight miles off the coast of France, Guernsey is historically interesting as the only part of the United Kingdom occupied by the Nazis in World War II.  Remains of German fortifications dot the coastline.  Think a small picturesque harbor, a 13th century castle, gold and silversmith workshops, a miniature church decorated with pottery and shells, and beautiful countryside.  All of this and more to see in a very small port of call.

Two Buddies Enjoy
Traveling Together

to Cuba
Patricia and Imogene had the time of their lives cruising  on Norwegian Sky to Cuba.  The country had many highlights and memorable events.  It's a small island filled with rich history where the people were great.  We will always remember the incredible vintage cars, historical heritage of the community, lovely landscape of the areas we explored on a private tour arranged by Holiday Cruises - Chynell.

The relaxed atmosphere and the willingness of the people sharing their daily lives experience were welcoming.  We chose Cuba as our Ladies Getaway because we were most interested in learning about the culture, language, dietary customs and all around lifestyles of the Cuban people and Cuba seems to be a popular destination for travel at this time.

Our recommendation for travelers are to wear comfortable walking shoes because streets are cobblestones, take cash for currency exchange (US Credit Cards are not acceptable), keep hydrated by carrying bottled water, wear hat, sunscreen and insect repellent for the warm temperatures.   We were so pleased with this vacation and glad Chynell- Holiday Cruises guided us on the required travel details before we departed.

Fly High in Alaska

WOW, is all that I could say.
My husband Ben and I sailed on a 8-day round-trip cruise to Alaska on July 29th.   Our ports-of-call included Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, Alaska, and  Glacier Bay and Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Our trip started in Seattle one day before the cruise and we stayed at a hotel on the water near Pike Place Market. It was a wonderful location.

We cruised with our neighbors and had  balcony cabins side by side. The cabin steward removed the divider between our cabins to make it one big balcony. That made the trip so much more pleasant. The weather was just wonderful. No rain in 8 days.     In Juneau, we went on a shore excursion that I would suggest to everyone. We took a helicopter flight and landed on a glacier. The helicopter held 6 people and the pilot. We flew over the mountain and when we landed, we got out and had about   30 minutes to walk around. We even drank water from the glacier.     In Sitka we took an excursion to the Raptor Center where they nurse injured bald eagles  to health for release back into the wild. We walked through Sitka National Historical Park's lush rain forest.
The best part about cruising Alaska is the scenery. We spent a whole day just cruising Glacier Bay. Before lunch we all went to the top deck and just admired the beauty.  We had lunch, then we went back to our cabins and viewed the beauty of the glaciers from our balcony. Words cannot describe what we saw.
Holiday Cruises and Tours is having an Alaska presentation on November 16th. Please join us. See details below.

Experience an A&K Barge Cruise
We returned a few days ago from our trip to France and Spain and I thought I would let you know how the barge trip went.  It was Fabulous!  The accommodations and service were great and the food was incredible.  Our chef was a restaurateur from the Alps whose restaurant is only open during ski season so he was doing this in the off season.  He was terrific and we all happily gained weight (not so happy when we got home and had to try to lose it).  He gave us mini cooking classes every day.  The
had been piloting this boat for 17 years and knew every inch of the canal.  His wife (20 yea rs younger) was darling and was the hostess and housekeeper.  Our guide was from a village in th e area and was an archaeologist.  They had a  nice van that took us on excursions and were very receptive when we wanted to change the itinerary from more churches and cathedrals to more wineries.  They had bikes that we rode along the canal as well.  To top it off, the weather was perfect.
So, we just wanted to report that our long-awaited barge trip was a success and thank you for making all the arrangements and answering all our questions along the way.
