Chamber Chat Newsletter

As we do each and every month, we kicked things off with our Breakfast Club Networking on the first Thursday of the month-which was very early this month. The throng of attendees provide a robust amount of energy and conversation and kept the morning full of networking opportunities. Each month seems to have its own new and different environment, providing fresh opportunities to grow your own network. Although, it’s hard to expand your own individual horizons of network opportunities if you are not in attendance. So, what’s holding YOU back?  See you next month on Thursday October 6, at 8:00am at Brother’s!

The Chamber Living Healthy Fair held on Saturday August 13 on North St. alongside the Farmers Market was a tremendous success. This year, we partnered with the Farmers Market and the Wakefield Health Department to bring to our community one of the Chamber’s most successful events and it was better than ever! With over 35 participating vendors providing all types of “Living Healthy” products and services ranging from Physical Therapy information to Yoga and Tai Chai demonstrations and many children's activities including an obstacle course, face painting and a magician. Multiple Town Departments were also in attendance. This was an event thoroughly enjoyed by all!
We would like to take moment to thank: AnnMarie Galivan of the Farmers Market, Catherine Dhingra of the Wakefield Health Department and our very own Chamber Board of Director Rosanne Russell of MOVE2JOY Yoga for all that they did to bring this event forward and make it the success it truly was! THANK YOU!

We happily welcomed another new member, ANGELA’S BEAUTY LOUNGE to the Chamber with a well-attended Ribbon Cutting! Joining us in welcoming Angela to the Chamber and the Wakefield Community were Town Administrator Steve Maio, State Representative Donald Wong and members of the Chamber Board of Directors! We are all wishing Angela’s well and on-going success in her new business here in town. Stop by her shop at 64 Albion Street and say hello and give her your own warm welcome!

The Chamber is please to share that we are working closely with and supporting two separate Town of Wakefield initiatives which are coming soon. Both of these initiatives are geared towards helping our local business community and residents, while celebrating everything WAKEFIELD!

Though the hard work of Erin Kokinda (Wakefield Community Economic Development Director), the Town of Wakefield received a travel and tourism grant that will be used to market small businesses with the “tourism” tie-in being attracting folks visiting Wakefield and Lake Quannapowitt. The funds will be used to create and market the concept of shop-local and will include a scavenger hunt that will take place September 17. Click here for more information. The Chamber is happy to support this effort by providing gift certificates to the winners of the Scavenger Hunt donated from the following local restaurants: Dockside Wakefield, Public Kitchen, Harrington’s, Tonno, Charlie's on Main and Cravings!!

The second event is a WAKEFIELD TOWN DAY!!

Once again, a reminder that while the Chamber does it’s best to provide and share with you as much information as possible regarding events here in Wakefield, we still highly recommend that you subscribe to the Town’s listserv as the Town sends out notifications on upcoming public meetings all the time. Please find more information here on joining: https://www.wakefield.ma.us/subscribe.

This would be very helpful in staying up-to-date on what is going on in Town. We also recommend following the Towns Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TownofWakefieldMA

Thank you all once again for continuing to support your Chamber.

John
