President's Message
On behalf of the Landlovers Board I’d like to welcome everyone to our 2022/2023 membership year.

Your new board is busy planning a year full of fun and fundraising. Special thanks to all our Board members who were taking a break from planning to pose on the jungle gym: Vice-President/President Elect Tim Forbes, Secretary Deb Werner, Treasurer Don Wurzel, Asst. Treasurer Steve Voss, Membership Vicki Knapp, Activities Directors Eileen Yost & Judy Faraklas, Social Directors Milli Sample & Kathy Collura, Ways & Means Directors Jane Golz & Laurie Etherington, Development Betsey Andersen, Communications Tina Dorward (missing from photo) & Julia Harrell. They are an energetic group full of new ideas and it is my privilege to work with all of them.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 28, the Landlovers Opening Reception at Palmetto Ballroom to learn about everything we have planned for the 2022-2023 year. The year will be chock full of new and ongoing Activities and Social events at venues we haven’t visited before. Be on the lookout for details about our first ever Landlovers Mixed Golf Scramble in October. Thanks to the members who volunteered to start new groups – you’ll learn all about them at the September Opening reception on September 28 at the Palmetto Ballroom. More details can be found below. Our Activity Directors are still looking for Chairs for Bunco and Cocktails with Friends. If you’re interested or if you have a new group you want to start, contact our Activity Directors, Eileen Yost & Judy Faraklas at [email protected]

Last year was our best fundraising year ever – we raised $124,166. We could not have done it without the over 900 volunteers who worked to make the year a success. Thanks to all of you! Volunteering at our fundraisers is an opportunity to give back to the community we all love. We work hard, but have fun sharing the experience with our friends. I never get tired of watching the magic that happens when Landings folks work together for a purpose! We’re still looking for a few Flea Market Committee Chairs to help both prior to and during the sale on Saturday, March 11th, 2023. Contact Laurie Etherington and Jane Golz at [email protected] for more information.

Lastly, don’t forget to renew your Landlovers membership. You can join now by clicking here or join when you attend the Opening Reception. Encourage your friends to join with you. We especially welcome all New Neighbors and Skidaway Island Residents to join.

I’m looking forward to a fun and fabulous year and getting to know those of you I don’t know. Please look for me at the Opening Reception and introduce yourself. Have questions or suggestions?  Contact me at [email protected]. See you on Wednesday, September 28th in the Palmetto Ballroom.

Best regards,
Chris Lanigan
President

The cost is $65.00 per person. If you would like to invite a LL member who is not a member of the club, the guest fee for golf would be an additional $40.00.
Please put it on your calendar!!!!!!!!!! More information to follow. Any questions, please email Eileen Yost @ [email protected].

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT

Club Car Championship at The Landings Club Recognized as Landlovers' First
“Diamond” Level Sponsor

Landlovers is very excited to announce the newly created Diamond Level of sponsorship given to The Club Car Championship at The Landings Club. The Diamond Level designation recognizes sponsors donating $10,000 or more in a single year. In May, the tournament announced the results of this year’s efforts, and Landlovers received a check for just under $16,000, by far the largest donation in our history! Landlovers’ relationship with the tournament is ongoing and it is expected that donations will grow in the future as the tournament becomes even more successful and as Landlovers engages in additional volunteer supported functions.

In 2019 Club Car Championship at The Landings Club added Landlovers to its list of benefiting charity partners. In 2022, there were 10 Official Charity partners and 4 additional charities that also benefitted from the event. The tournament is also hosted through a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Tournaments for Charity. The net proceeds from the tournament and a variety of additional initiatives (like Sweepstakes Fore Charity) benefit local charity partners.

”The tradition of giving which this tournament has established in the greater Savannah community is inspiring,” said Cheyenne Overby, Club Car Championship at The Landings tournament director. “The competition on the course and the energy of tournament week is incredible, but it’s the sincere and sustaining impact created by the dollars raised for charity that is most important – and the tournament is committed to growing that spirit for years to come.”

The fifth annual Club Car Championship at The Landings Club, contested March 28- April 3, raised more than $340,000 for charitable organizations in greater Savannah and beyond. This 2022 amount equals the largest single-season charitable donation in its history and brings the tournament five-year total to nearly $800,000. For more information, visit www.clubcarchampionshipattlc.com.

Benefiting charities for the 2022 Club Car Championship at The Landings Club include: 200 Club of the Coastal Empire, CASA Savannah, Employability, First Tee Savannah, Folds of Honor, Georgia PGA Foundation, Girls on the Run Coastal Georgia Lowcountry, Kids Cafe at Second Harvest, Landings Landlovers, Make-a-Wish Foundation Georgia, Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Services, The Landings Military Family Relief Fund, United Way CSRA, and USO Savannah.
