GJ Swing for a Cause
GJ Swing for a Cause recently enabled a new wheelchair accessible swing at Canyon View Park. Significant fundraising by the Swing for a Cause non-profit raised much of the needed funds from local sources. The ease of use, as well as the fully swinging function will greatly deepen the positive experience of the user. The City contributed additional funds, provided in-kind with the project management and installation. Proceeds from the Santa Cause Run also provided funding. The swing is now open to the public.
Canyon View Dark Sky Certification
During the installation of the new sports lighting at Canyon View Park, parks and recreation wanted to ensure the lighting would not disturb the Spanish Trail Subdivision and other surrounding neighborhoods. The new lighting was designed to meet the International Dark Sky (IDA) standards. Parks and recreation also applied for the IDA certification. Now, Canyon View Park is the first facility in Colorado to receive the International Dark Sky accreditation.
Las Colonias Dog Parks Now Open
The middle and east sections of the Las Colonias dog park are open! Small dogs can enjoy the east section while larger dogs can enjoy the middle. Thanks for being patient while we allowed the grass to establish!
Fall Aquatics
The aquatics division is switching gears for the fall season. The Lincoln Park-Moyer Pool closed on Labor Day but residents can still enjoy swimming at the Orchard Mesa Pool. To end the outdoor pool season, dog owners can participate in Dog Days on September 12th.
