The 5th Annual Outdoor Free Festival
Join us this month for all of your favorite plant-based foods, sustainable shopping, and live entertainment on Sunday, September 12, 11am-5pm, Riley Park, Downtown Farmington! We will have plenty of seating to spread out or bring a blanket for the lawn. Enjoy entertainment for the whole family with performances by Clark the Juggler, who is back with a brand new show, and live music by Sinjon Smith. Try the best plant-based foods in Michigan, including grilled burgers and sausages, vegan grilled cheese, tamales, jackfruit tacos, carrot dogs, and more. In addition, enjoy sweet treats such as vegan fudge, doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, and cupcakes! Stop by the VegMichigan table to pick up a free activity bag for kids 10 and under.

We're so grateful for all of our member support over the years as, together, we've grown the plant-based movement in Michigan. If you join or renew your membership in-person at the festival, you'll receive a free reusable insulated bag and be entered into a raffle to win a vegan cheese box from Rebel Cheese! Of course, you'll continue to enjoy our other great member benefits too. Check them out here and stop by the membership table at the festival to join or renew.

Be it a barbeque, house party, tailgate, or giveaway, VegMichigan is introducing thousands of individuals to great tasting plant-based food! We have heard comments such as, "I've wanted to try the Impossible Whopper for a while but I didn't want to spend the money in case I didn't like it", and "I want to eat plant-based but I didn't know how to start". These are just two comments from people who are now eating more plant-based meals because of our program. They enjoyed the food and we gave them the resources they needed to continue their plant-based journey. We want people to feel welcomed into the plant-based community. If you have an idea for an event, let us know about it and we would be happy to provide Beyond Burgers and/or other plant-based items for your guests to try. Outdoor parties are recommended or smaller indoor parties where everyone is vaccinated. Contact tom@vegmichigan.org.

In addition to the Free Festival, join us this month for a picnic at County Farm Park in Ann Arbor, two great virtual events; a plant-based nutrition presentation with Chantal Singer, RDN, and a food justice presentation by Malik Yakini, Executive Director of the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network. Plus, we're partnering with Life Remodeled and We Run 313 in Detroit to host a screening of The Game Changers. Click on the links below for more information.

The Vegan Mary's Guide to Shopping at ALDI
Grab a quarter, a few recyclable grocery bags, and your appetite… we are heading to ALDI for vegan eats! Its no-frills approach to retail, with products often displayed in their packing boxes, strikes a stark contrast to many of its US grocery store contemporaries. And with dozens of new stores cropping up across Michigan in the last decade, you may have an ALDI retailer closer than think. Check out The Vegan Mary's guide to vegan shopping at ALDI here.
