Preschool - Kindergarten News
Preschool Apples Galore

Apple tasting was a hit! The Preschool class tasted yellow, green and red apples. They then decided which one they liked best. Did you know that there is something special inside an apple? The children watched as a red apple was cut horizontally. Inside, they noticed that 5 seeds were arranged to look like a star
Colorful Preschool

This week the Preschool class celebrated colors. Each day, all of the children dressed in a designated color. Using primary colors, we mixed them to make new colors. The children mixed paint and food coloring to see the change in these colors. They were so amazed at the magic they performed!
Pre-Kindergarten A ~
Apple Taste Testing

With the Fall season upon us, the Pre-Kindergarten children had so much fun taste-testing apples. The children had to decide which color apple they liked best. We documented the results which we then transferred onto a bar graph. Our class decided we like red apples the best.
Pre-Kindergarten B ~ Apple Week

Pre-Kindergarten B celebrated Apple Week with an apple taste-testing party! They spent the week learning about different kinds of apples, the colors of apples, how they grow, the parts of an apple, and Johnny Appleseed. Many thanks to the parents who donated the treats!  Read More
Johnny Appleseed
The Kindergarten children learned all about a real boy named Johnny Appleseed. Because of him, people always had fresh fruit to eat, and the land grew more beautiful! The Kindergarten children made a pot to wear as a hat... just like Johnny Appleseed!

First Grade Social Studies

Why is it important to learn from each other? This is the essential question that first graders are exploring as our year begins. First graders answered a questionnaire about themselves and then interviewed their classmates to find out how they were alike and different. In this chapter, we are learning that we can all learn from one another. Second Graders- Off to a Great Start

Second grade has had a fun-filled start to the new school year! The children have found many ways to get to know each other by playing during recess and working together in the classroom. Games, drawing, and reading books about character development have provided an excellent start to building our classroom community. We are looking forward to a terrific year! See More
Grade 3 Starts New School Year

Third grade students started their new school year by writing letters to their future selves! Also, 3rd graders completed an All About Me paper bag project where they had to bring in 5 items that represent their interests. Grade 4 Starts New School Year

The new school year has been bustling with excitement and activity in Grade 4! With a very full schedule, the students
are amazed at how much they accomplish each day! Bravo!
After capturing silhouettes of their hands with color, they proudly displayed their artistic creations outside the 4 th grade classrooms.
Grades 3 and 4 House Meeting

3rd and 4th graders held their first House Meeting on Friday, Sept. 28 th .
Each House met in a corner of the two third grade classrooms, supervised by the 3rd and 4th grade teachers assigned to each house. Students planned and created posters to reflect their respective Houses and began work on their House Cheer. Read More

Grade 5 Scientist

Grade 5 Science was out and about the CHP campus... in the low rope area, exploring the brook and woods. The budding scientists were on a scavenger hunt for living and nonliving things on CHP property. Great discoveries were made through thought-provoking conversations. Read More
Grade 6 Scientist

Grade 6 student's inquisitive minds were educated consumers for a variety of sunblock lotions. The investigative skills of these Middle School scientists analyzed medical information, price points, and advertising gimmicks on sunblock with varied SPFs, brands, and sizes.

House Competition
Students are excited to participate in the annual Cedar Hill Prep House Competition. The Cherokee Bears, Lenape Owls, Ramapo Falcons, and Shawnee Beavers all decorated their designated hallway areas in our first competition of the year.

New P ar ent Orientation
On September 5th, 2018, Cedar Hill Prep School started the 2018-2019 academic year with a New Parent Orientation. The new parents then met with the Home Room teachers to help jump-start a smooth transition into their children's new school.  
House Ceremonies
Our annual House Ceremony at CHP was overflowing with school-wide enthusiasm! Students who are new to CHP were placed in one of the four Houses, and faculty members were redistributed among the Houses. Excitement ran high as new House members were welcomed! See More

All parents were invited to "Back to School Night" from September 25th - 27th to experience learning and understand the CHP educational paradigm.
“1 Month to Go”
#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. This year, #GivingTuesday falls on November 27. #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of how people think, talk about, and participate in giving. Pep Rally
On Friday September 21st, CHP held a Pep Rally to celebrate the beginning of our Soccer Season! Members of the Boys and Girls Soccer Teams were introduced along with their coaches, Ms. Tierney and Coach Griggs. An amazing air of excitement filled the gym, which was further heightened by a special visit from our School mascot, CHiP!

Cedar Hill Prep was represented at the Franklin Day Festival that took place on Saturday, September 22nd at Colonial Park in Somerset. Many prospective parents at the event were excited to learn what CHP had to offer.
Happy Birthday, Mrs. Callahan!
Mrs. Callahan joined CHP this year as a Middle School Social Studies teacher. The entire CHP staff signed a card for her and 3rd grade presented her with the card and sang Happy Birthday to her! Hope you had an awesome d ay, Mrs. Callahan!

Happy Birthday, Ms. Lekhi and Ms. Woodard
Third graders visited two more teachers, Ms. Lekhi and Ms. Woodard, to celebrate their birthdays. Both teachers were pleasantly surprised to receive the card signed from the staff and listen to the birthday song that 3rd grade sang for them.
