Has Arrived

In this new format, we provide a snapshot of the education programs we offer K-12 teachers and include a fold-out poster with a vivid reminder of the ongoing drought. We invite you to sign-up for one of our in-class presentations and learn with your students about the current state of the drought and other topics related to local water supply and climate change. Discover conservation actions that can make a difference!

Drought Education

Middle and High School Lessons

Middle and high school teachers are encouraged to sign up for a one-hour drought lesson. During the lesson, students participate in a hands-on science activity that demonstrates how drought impacts the health of creeks. Students reflect on their personal water use and brainstorm ways to conserve water.

Climate Change in the North Bay

High School Lesson and Field Trip

Classroom Visit and Field Trip

High school teachers can sign up to receive a one-hour classroom lesson where students consider the connection between turning on a light and the impact on Earth's changing climate. Students compare the electricity used, heat output, costs, and amount of CO₂ emitted from using an incandescent bulb versus an LED bulb.

All of our field trips are free and include a limited number of free bus trips.

The classroom lesson and activity help prepare students for a one-hour field trip to Sonoma Clean Power's Advanced Energy Center. Students work together to solve a fun climate change themed escape room while learning about local climate change solutions.

More Climate Change Programs

In partnership with Sonoma Clean Power, we offer a series of educational programs that address the topic of climate change. Hands-on activities teach students about sources of renewable energy like solar and wind. Discussions and content emphasize simple solutions and everyday actions that can make a positive difference locally.
