And that’s a wrap on the summer! We had an amazing summer season filled with free community events in Nubian Square, beautification projects across Roxbury and the rolling out of new resources for small business owners and residents. The end of summer is bittersweet, but we are heading into my favorite event season...
On Thursday, September 21, from 8am to 10am, Roxbury Main Streets is hosting its annual Women’s Business Breakfast at the Bruce C. Bolling Building in Nubian Square. Special speakers include president of the NAACP Boston Branch, Tanisha Sullivan, and the City of Boston's director of small business, Aliesha Porcena. Roxbury Main Streets hopes Nubian Square’s amazing women will be in attendance.
And save the date on Saturday, December 2, for Roxbury Main Streets’ annual Holiday Gift Distribution and Tree Lighting in the Square. Families in the community gather and celebrate the holidays with face painting, food, entertainment — and a visit from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu. Join us! Details coming soon.
We are seeing environmental improvements in Nubian Square thanks to our city partners in public health, public works, police, inspectional services and transit police, as well as community organizations. Join us for Roxbury Main Streets’ small business and community walkthroughs! Help us revitalize Roxbury’s commercial district and connect with community every Thursdays at 11:30am. Meet us in front of Dunkin’ in the Nubian Square bus terminal.
Thank you to the community, our partners and the Roxbury Main Streets board of directors for your dedication and commitment to our organization and Roxbury as a whole. Special appreciation to The Rockland Trust Foundation, The Boston Foundation and The New Commonwealth Fund for supporting Roxbury Main Streets and the community. Revitalizing Nubian Square takes a village, but our collective efforts have proven invaluable.

Stepping Into Hope Recovery Month Event

STEPRox in Roxbury is hosting a Stepping Into Hope event to celebrate and honor National Recovery Month in September.
Everyone is welcome to the event regardless of status or relationship with recovery.
The event will include food, music, dancing, opportunities to appreciate "Hope Ambassadors" and support from community members.
The event will be held on the 6th floor of the Bruce C. Bolling Building in Nubian Square from 4pm to 7pm. No RSVP necessary!

"All Ideas" Pitch Contest

EforAll Roxbury is hosting a contest for people in the community to submit business, product, nonprofit or service ideas... For a chance to win up to $1,000! There will be four cash-prize winners determined by judges and the audience.
The event is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to inspire and advise one another.

Summer Beautification Program |

Roxbury Main Streets' annual Summer Beautification Program is wrapping up for 2023. With the help of the Eastern Bank Foundation and Boston Gardner, as well as the City of Boston Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion and Office of Small Business, we were able to add vibrancy all over the Square.

Roxbury Main Streets was able to make the vision for these banners come to life thanks to help from our funding partners, as well as the City of Boston Office of Small Business, the Public Works Department and Boston Main Streets. We love to see vibrancy in the Square!

We help businesses in the Square adapt to the ever-changing market and our growing Roxbury community.
