So Much Happening in September! | |
Greetings!
I hope each of you enjoyed a relaxing and rejuvenating summer. As we step into September, there’s a renewed energy in the air, and I’m thrilled to begin another exciting season with our wonderful club.
A special thank-you to Gail Dawson, Tracy Stevenson, Mary Jean Spegal and Peg Babcock for creating our revamped and streamlined newsletter format. We hope you’ll find it easier than ever to navigate the who, what, where, and when!
This year promises inspiring programs, fun activities, and plenty of opportunities to make meaningful connections. Whether you’re a longtime member or new to our circle, I encourage you to get involved, share your talents, and enjoy the special moments we’ll create together.
Don’t forget that our General Meetings are moving to Tuesdays, so make plans to grab lunch in the Pub afterwards with friends, old and new!
Here’s to a vibrant and fulfilling year ahead!
Warmly,
Cindy Feeley

Did you know that the world’s most endangered whale visits Northeast Florida every year to give birth and nurse their young? Searching out warmer waters for their newborn calves, female right whales visit our coastline from January to March, remaining close enough to shore to be seen without binoculars. Terran McGinnis is a well known, local marine biologist and a passionate storyteller toward the goal of inspiring conservation awareness and behavior. She will speak about these rare and precious visitors, the conservation and research efforts happening here and throughout the world, and how you can be involved! This event is for members only and is limited to 120 members. Reservations are required so that we can prepare seating. Contact Carol Dacey with questions.
Registration closes on September 5th.

Join the SWC book club for our September 23rd gathering. We will discuss Table for Two by Amor Towles. The millions of readers of Amor Towles are in for a treat as he shares some of his shorter six stories set in New York City and a novella in Los Angeles. The New York stories, most of which are set around the turn of the millennium, take up everything from the death-defying acrobatics of the male ego, to the fateful consequences of brief encounters, and the delicate mechanics of compromise which operate at the heart of modern marriages.

Storied Lives welcomes everyone back from their busy summers! Our topic this month is "A Memorable Labor Day". Was it a fantastic celebration? Or a quiet day that gave you a break from the hectic pace? Or, for those of us who lived in the Northeast, the harbinger of the start of the new school year?
Please join us at the pavilion to share our recollections, catch up with old friends or make new ones. And if you don't consider yourself a writer, no worries. Jot down your memories on a page or less and come to have fun. We promise no grades or grammar police!
