What's Going on in Our Parks?

  • We want to hear from you about our events! Our 2023 event survey is now live. If you have feedback for us regarding our events, here is the place to let us know. The survey is open until September 30th. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/kpp2023eventsurvey

  • Bring 360 Trails Home! Key Pen Parks leases 360 Trails from the Department of Natural Resources (through 2059). Our lease is not ending, but a trust land transfer to Key Pen Parks will ensure outdoor recreational opportunities without the impacts of timber harvesting. Key Pen Parks has full responsibility for 360 Trails for recreational purposes, along with responsibilities to manage forest health; however, because we do not own the land, DNR is able to facilitate timber harvests as they see fit. Voice your opinion on this project by September 25th! Find out more at www.keypenparks.com/tlt.

  • Save the date - All Hallows Eve is quickly approaching! On October 28, we will be hosting our All Hallows Eve event at Gateway Park from 5pm-8pm. There will be harvest and Halloween themed activities as far as the eye can see (and candy of course...so much candy)! www.keypenparks.com/all-hallows-eve

  • Thank you to everyone who came out to our summer events: Family Fun Fest, Bubble Fun Day, movie nights in the park, and Mountain Biking 101! www.keypenparks.com/events

Community Engagement

Bring 360 Trails Home!

If 360 Trails gets transferred to Key Pen Parks, the land would be under local control, meaning that we would be able to ensure that the land is directly serving the Key Peninsula and the local community. Key Pen Parks works to provide easily accessible outdoor recreation opportunities. Currently, DNR has the right to order a timber harvest of 360 Trails, leading to the potential clear-cutting of the forest for revenue (funds go towards schools and other public agencies). Voice your opinion on this project by September 25th!

Key Pen Parks at the Art Walk

We had such a blast at the Key Center Art Walk - thanks to everyone who stopped by and said hi!

Everyone welcome (including kids)! Bring clothes for the weather and binoculars if you have them (extras available). Join Chris Rurik, the KP Nature Guide, each month for a bird walk around Gateway Park’s hidden beaver pond and back woods. Learn about incredible birds and hope for the thrill of finding a rarity. All skill levels welcome. Expect to walk 1-2 miles on uneven terrain.

Fun Activities!

Spot the Difference

There are 10 differences between the two pictures below. Can you find them all?

Reminder Of Our Park Rules

Please do not park in the trailer parking unless you have a trailer!

The trailer parking at Gateway Park is the only spot designated for trailers, so when that space is full of normal size vehicles, that means that folks with oversized vehicles such as RVs/camping trailers, horse trailers, and bike trailers no longer have access to 360 Trails.

We will be placing delineators with chains and signs around the trailer parking to limit access. If you have a trailer, all you need to do is remove the chain from the delineator during your visit to 360 Trails and replace the chain when you leave.

If you have any questions about this, please email [email protected] or call our office at (253) 884-9240.
