Note From The Principal

Dear RSPA Families,

What a start to the 2018-2019 school year! Last year, at this exact time we had to deal with Hurricane Harvey.  This year, the issues with the fire codes are trying to rain on our parade.   My motto, "Begin with the end in mind". This is just another test of our faith.  When I was hired, I was told that RSPA's motto is "We are crew.... not passenger".  I thought it was a cute little saying. It's not. It's a way of life for the staff, students, parents, and community associated with The Rhodes School for Performing Arts.

I'd like to say thank you to the entire crew. I'd like to thank the community for coming out for the Ice Cream Social, Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher, the Back to School Bash, the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, and The Town Hall Meeting.  I'd like to thank "All Hands and Hearts" and Tumi for helping and volunteering to get our building ready for this school year. They built walls, painted, and unpacked furniture into teacher's classrooms to assist us with the move.  I thank my teachers for working tireless hours to make their rooms look beautiful in just a few days. Last, I thank RSPA Humble and Channelview for accepting us with open arms during our unexpected relocation.  Mr. Davis and Mrs. Miller welcomed our staff and students without one complaint. Every member of the HR department came out to support us in any way that they could. Wow!  I'm so blessed to work with such an incredible organization.

I want to thank every parent who continued to support and trust us with your most valued treasures during an extremely difficult time.  This is the real meaning of crew. As I walk down the hallways and see our children smiling and happy to be at school, whether they're at  Northshore, Humble, or CV, it reminds me of why I've committed 30 years of my life  to this profession and the reason I love education.  This is only the beginning of what will be a spectacular year. Together,  we will help every child to reach his or her full potential both instructionally and through cultivating their Fine Art talents.  Again, thank you for your patience and support.

Last, I'd like to introduce our new Assistant Principal, Mr. Jarett Fields.  He joined RSPA a week ago and is already on fire for the students, teachers, parents, and community proving that he is definitely Crew material. We look forward to leading RSPA Northshore to being one of the BEST charter schools in the state of Texas.  It's going to be a great year!

Educationally yours,

Tonya McBride M.Ed.
