Vote Alachua Update
September/October 2019
From the Supervisor

We are less than six months from the 2020 Presidential Preference Primary Election in March. Our team was out helping people register around Alachua County on National Voter Registration Day during the last week of September. As we look ahead to 2020, we're excited to serve the voters of Alachua County during 2020's three countywide elections.

In order to do this effectively, we always need your help. Make sure your voter registration information is updated if you've moved or your signature has changed.

I encourage everyone to reach out to me if they ever have any questions. I can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 352-374-5252.

Thank you, as always, for your commitment to elections in Alachua County.

Yours In Service,
Kim A. Barton
Supervisor of Elections
Alachua County

Vote Alachua Team Spotlight
Nuguana Hackney Cowvins

Nuguana Hackney Cowvins has worked as an Alachua County election worker in Precinct 33 for the past seven years.

Before joining our office as an election worker, Nuguana had been living outside of Alachua County.

Originally from Alachua County, she says that running into people she hasn't seen in almost 40 years is one of her favorite parts of being an election worker.
We were proud to collect over 100 paper voter registration applications — and many more from online voter registration at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov — through our National Voter Registration Day efforts!
Our office had a table at the University of Florida's Brown Center for Leadership and Service's Networking with Non-Profits and More event on Sept. 17. We got to inform students of how to get involved with the elections process.
Our office presented to the Gainesville chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association on how to effectively communicate with voters to prepare for the upcoming 2020 election cycle.
We're looking forward to our 2020 Alachua County Candidate Workshop. It will take place at 6 p.m. on Nov. 5 on the first floor of the Josiah T. Walls Building.

RSVP by calling 352-374-5252 or emailing [email protected] .
Happy two-year work anniversary to Information Specialist Alexis White!
