Making STRIDES out here!

As fall foliage turns our eyes up in awe, we are reminded that simple moments outside can inspire a lifetime of caring for our natural world. Nature preserves, local parks, and trails significantly contribute to our quality of life, and we're grateful for all the ways our giving community keeps conservation and education alive -- today, tomorrow, and for every season to come.

Wine & Dine Recap

On the last day of summer, Sat., Sep. 21, over 100 conservation-minded individuals gathered with us for Wine & Dine. Under the scenic background of Lock Ridge Park in Alburtis, we enjoyed farm-to-table dinners served al fresco and locally sourced drinks. But, our favorite part of the evening was seeing the smiling faces of our community!

Each dinner served supported Wildlands Conservancy's mission:

A Lehigh Valley and Lehigh River watershed that contain expansive natural areas, connected green spaces, healthy waterways, and an enlightened community where people embrace conservation and sustainability.

Stream Restoration on the Monocacy Creek

Northampton County, with help from Wildlands Conservancy, has begun restoration of the Monocacy Creek as it flows through the Archibald Johnston Conservation Area in Bethlehem Township and the City of Bethlehem.

Kristie Fach, Wildlands Conservancy's director of ecological restoration, spoke to WFMZ 69 News for an article, saying:

"We are really looking forward to the future of the Monocacy Creek in this unique, natural area. We're putting the best science and stream management practices to work to address impairments to the High Quality fishery, while making this outdoor space both safe and functional for the residents of Northampton County...

...Together with our partners and supporters, I'm really grateful that this project will serve locally as a model for similar, future efforts."

Thank You, Volunteers!

Last Thursday, more than 60 volunteers including our board chair, Tadd Henninger, joined us at to plant 300 trees for United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley's Day of Caring 2024!

Nic Ziegler, Wildlands' volunteer and events coordinator, says, "We exist to serve the needs of the community. When the community gives their own time and talent to support the organization, it reaffirms why our commitment to the Lehigh Valley is so important."

These trees will help our water quality initiatives along Laurel Run, a tributary to Saucon Creek and the Lehigh River.
