What's the 2026 Mill Levy Ovrride (MLO)?

The Douglas County School District Board of Education rencently has placed a $54 million Mill Levy Override (MLO) on the November 2026 ballot. A Mill Levy Override is a voter-approved local funding measure that provides additional revenue directly to DCSD. Unlike regular state funding, MLO dollars stay in our school district and are not offset by a reduction in state support.

If approved by voters, the MLO would help retain and attract top-quality teachers and staff through more competitive salaries, support and maintain school security—including School Resource Officers—reduce student waitlists for Career and Technical Education programs, including the trades, and restore student programming such as instrumental music in elementary schools.

What Could This Mean for Lone Tree Elementary?

For our LTE Lions, this investment could help us continue attracting and retaining the incredible teachers and staff who make our school so special, maintain important safety and security support, and expand opportunities for students throughout their educational journey in DCSD. The proposed funding would also support the restoration of elementary instrumental music—creating additional opportunities for our students to learn, grow and discover their passions.

FUNDRAISING

'

We're excited to kick off another amazing school year -- and we need your help to make it a success! This year, the PTO has set a fundraising goal of almost $130,000 (approximately $360/student) to support classroom resources, enrichment programs, family events and more.

Every donation, big or small, makes a difference in our students' experience. Whether you contribute directly, participate in upcoming fundraisers or help spread the word, you're part of our community effort.

As always, we try to be transparent with our fundraising. Follow along throughout the year by using our Fundraiser Tracker.
