September 2021 | Developing our Intellectual Powers

Having a clear understanding of our personal worldview, as well as nurturing an evolving vision of human possibility, is at the heart of our ITP commitment to develop our "intellectual powers by reading, writing, and discussion." This commitment to ongoing education isn't purely an academic pursuit. ITP co-founders George Leonard and Michael Murphy go on to explain in The Life We Are Given that our cognitive practices influence our emotional and physical functioning.

In The Life We Are Given, they write: "Ideas have the power to open us up. They also help us integrate capacities that initially seem strange or threatening. ...Integral practices sometimes produce potentially creative experiences that at first are disturbing, and for that reason require a mind-set that is favorable to them. Reading books about extraordinary experiences such as those in Appendix C, along with group discussions of them, can help you develop that mind-set."

This month's newsletter features a number of resources to explore and build upon this philosophy to embrace what is possible within your own ongoing transformation. We hope the tools below inspire "aha" moments and invigorate your practice and worldview.

As always, thank you for your wholehearted participation in this community. Your support and enthusiasm help to shape and evolve this practice in profound ways.

Wishing you blessings of good health and peace!
