Cudahy Historical Society

MPA was thrilled to partner with the Cudahy Historical Society to present on our beloved Soldiers Home. Special thanks to Cheryl Orlando, the CHS President, for the warm welcome!

MPA's Soldiers Home ticketed tours may be sold out, but please consider visiting some of our favorite community partner’s offerings:

St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church

Stabilization Planning is well underway, and we're also working on a plan to seal the building from water infiltration prior to winter.

On October 7th, we will be appealing to HPC for a Mothball Certificate. Never Fear! This doesn't mean that we're stopping work, it just buys us time to work on all the code violations issued by the city.

As always, special thanks to Berglund Construction for their continued work on this phase!

Want to keep informed as the Tavern Project unfolds? We’ll post updates as often as they happen on our website!

Office Updates

We've been working hard behind the scenes to better serve our membership and the community. Some things we've been working on:

  • We've partnered with Insect Hobby Design, a Milwaukee local, to bring a fresh take to MPA's branding and website and the project is well underway. We're so excited to have a new look to reveal soon!
  • We recently wrapped up our 5+ year Strategic Plan with Square Root Consulting and are ready to get to work!

We thank you for your continued support and assure you, even when things are a little quiet, we’re working hard to make preservation mainstream in Milwaukee!

MPA had the honor of touring the Soldiers Home with Alderwoman Larresa Taylor.

Didn't make a tour, but still want to have a guide? We accept Private Tour requests for groups of 10 or more throughout the year, and there's also a self-guided walking tour app available. Please visit our website for more information.

"Out at the Soldiers' Home: A Memory Book, a rather anecdotal account of her life and the lives of the men living at the home.
