Crystal Baker Ability President

I find myself always wanting to skip over the month of September. The long days of summer are tiring, and the crisp fall days of October and November cannot come quickly enough. Many transitions happen during September, we turn over a new leaf, sharpen our pencils, and dive into school and work.

The name, September, comes from the Roman word for “seventh” – Septimus, given it was the seventh month in the Roman year, before they added January and February. In numerology, the number seven signifies the Greek deity Athena and the Roman deity Minerva, both goddesses of war and the city protectress. People with close ties to the number seven are believed to be insightful, intuitive, and wise.

We are still in gloomy times, amidst a transition. To lift the weight you are carrying, try doing something for someone else. Evidence shows that helping others can also benefit our own mental health and well-being. It can reduce stress as well as improve mood, self-esteem, and happiness. There are so many ways to help others as part of our everyday lives. Good deeds needn't take much time or cost any money. Start with the next person in your path.

Don’t forget about our upcoming September events:
