Hey, Sponsors and Donors!
In wonderful news, we have a Pulitzer Prize Plus sponsor: The Vineyard Family Foundation!! Set up in 2000, the Foundation supports the most vulnerable with food, housing, and medical assistance and helps community programs that promote education, art, and cultural events. Shown in the photo, Mark and Bradley Vineyard; Bradley is a NOVA RIF board member. (Whoo hoo!!!)

Since the August RAP, several more sponsors have signed on, too. They are noted below and/or on our website.

Interested in sponsoring? We invite individuals and businesses to help! See sponsorship levels and how to connect here! To sign up to sponsor or donate to Book It, click here! For info, contact us at: bookitforbooks2021@gmail.com.
Hey, runners and walkers!
The link to sign up is live on the PR race site: https://potomac.enmotive.com/events/register/2021-book-it-for-books-5k. Sign up now to run or walk -- either in person or virtually!

Virtual: If you decide to participate virtually, we are grateful...virtually! Please take photos of your virtual run or walk and email them to us for the RIF RAP and to post on social media (rifnova@gmail.org)! Let's get virtual runners and walkers from all around the country (even the world!!!) to walk or run for books for NOVA kids!

In-person: Start times will be staggered to allow for safe running and walking for all.

Pictures help tell the love-of-reading story! Do you have a photo of a baby or toddler "reading" or trying? If so, send in your favorite photo(s) to our email: rifnova@gmail.com. We will publish one new photo a month in the newsletter and on our website through the end of the year (with absolutely no names). All we need from you is approval to use the photo in our media.

New! September's BOOK BABY: Reading is better with a bunny for backup!
Groveton Elementary's Family Resource Fair
Groveton Elementary School kicked off the new school year with a first-ever Groveton Family Resource Fair on Saturday, August 14 — offering free transportation and pizza and free school supplies for each Groveton student who attended. Many community and business partners participated, including the Fairfax County Health Department, FC Library, Fairfax County Park Authority, Fairfax Connector, Neighborhood Health and United Community among many others.

A free walk-in vaccination clinic was a highlight of the day -- along with books! Rocco DeBonis, Groveton School Librarian, gave away over 500 books donated by RIF of NOVA! Yay!!!

"I had to learn how to speak dog!"

NEW! In New Books...with a NOVA Connection, we feature Penelope's Bully by first-time children's book author Andre Gatling. Penelope thought moving to a new neighborhood would be exciting, but she didn't expect to be bullied because she is different. In the story, she befriends Chloe, a homeless puppy who is also bullied for being different.

Meet Andre Gatling and find out more about his new children's book and how he learned to "speak dog!" Click right here!
