SHARPhub helped Innovative Prosthetics & Orthotics prepare a proposal to get funding through the federal government’s SBIR/STTR (Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer Resource) program. “Without SHARPhub, it really wouldn’t have been possible to apply for grant money because we simply didn’t have the resources,” said Dr. Rakesh Srivastava, founder of the company.

The MAP program's goal is to help SHARPhub companies develop a strong commercialization plan to put them on a stronger development path. A consultant is assigned to the company to work together to develop a business plan to enable the likelihood of funding through an SBIR grant and/or equity provider application. SHARPhub is the result of a 2018 FastTrack STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) grant awarded to BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting (BBCetc) by the National Institutes of Health. A significant part of SHARPhub’s focus is helping startups develop competitive SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR grant applications to provide seed capital to fund Research and Development at startup companies.
