Our 21 st Season Was Delightful!

The Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival's
21st Season concluded more than a week ago, and people can’t stop talking about the fascinating lectures, flower-filled Orcas Center, the extraordinary talent represented throughout the festival, and the musicians’ stunning performances. These pictures, by Festival Photographer Barry Carlton, capture just a few of the highlights from the Season - the inspiring complete Brandenburg Concertos, dynamic WindSync, stunning Frederica von Stade, exciting Peter and the Wolf, and the thrilling last notes of the final concert. We are so grateful to the artists, attendees, sponsors, donors, and volunteers who made this season such a great one. Thank you all so very much!

Own an Original Work of OICMF Season Art

Each year, we feature a different artist in our program. In 2013, it was painter James Hardman, and his original work, “Interlude”, was auctioned off in support of the Festival. The purchasers, Alan and Lisbeth Fritzberg, have moved into a home with less wall space and have generously re-donated the work so that we might sell it again! The painting is 19”x 29” (framed size is 29” x 39”). It truly is beautiful – please contact anita@oicmf.org if you are interested in making an offer (Christmas is right around the corner, after all…).

Jackie Scopes Out Possible
Future Festival Artists

OICMF Artistic Advisor Jon Kimura "Jackie" Parker is in Calgary in his role as Artist Director of the Honens International Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious events of its kind, and of course he has our 22nd season in mind. The 10 semi-finalists are arguably the top young pianists in the world, and it’s quite possible that Jackie will recommend one of them to Aloysia as a future OICMF Artist.   You can read about the competition and watch the action here , and read about Jackie's personal reflections on this, his first season as Artistic Director and all the excitement that entails, here .
We look forward to sharing more OICMF news and events with you - keep your eyes peeled for next month's Scherzo !
All the best,
