Tell Your Senator to Make Improving Child Care Quality a Priority
The U.S. Senate left town with the Child Care and Development Block Grant re-authorization bill in their pile of unfinished business. During the next few weeks - when elected officials, as New America EdCentral's Clare McCann puts it, are "making phone calls and knocking on doors, asking for money and votes" - make sure you toss CCDBG into the conversation. You can also be proactive by calling your elected officials and telling them to vote YES to improving child care quality for working families. Learn more about CCDBG, then take action.

Grandparents Day Wrap-Up This year, we launched our Do Something Grand campaign with 21 partner organizations to raise awareness around Grandparents Day. President Obama honored the day with a proclamation and we updated our 2014 Take Action Guide, which included numerous ways to get involved through volunteering, social media, and intergenerational activities. Following Grandparents Day, Joy Cardin interviewed Donna Butts on The Joy Cardin Show (Wisconsin Public Radio), which looked at the importance of celebrating older Americans and fun ideas for families to Do Something Grand. Listen to the recorded segment. Let us know how you celebrated so we can possibly share through our social media and on our Together Blog. If you missed our Grandparents Day awareness-raising campaign, here are some highlights. Let's continue to Do Something Grand all year long. Check out GrandparentsDay.org for ideas. |
