Wells County Chamber Honors Walmart August Member of the Month
Each month, Walmart sets aside a budget for donations, ensuring their efforts remain focused within Wells County. “I like to keep everything in the community,” Wernsing emphasized, noting that donations typically don’t go outside of Wells County.
Some notable contributions include providing new pool chairs for the local pool this spring, supporting the fire department and police department with grants, and sponsoring events like “Shop with a Cop” and “Shop with a Firefighter.” Additionally, Walmart has been actively involved in local events like the Parlor City Christmas and has provided grants to parks such as Lancaster Park and Lions Park.
A recent highlight for the store was exceeding their fundraising goal for the Children’s Miracle Network, raising over $11,000 in just 30 days for Riley Children’s Hospital. Wernsing shared, “It was cool. We really go big with that one every single year.”
