Our mission is to provide comprehensive recovery services that empower women to build a better life for themselves and their children

September marks Recovery Awareness Month! Now in its 34th year, Recovery Month is a time to celebrate everyone's journey from addiction to recovery. For our clients at Chrysalis House Inc., this month underscores the unique challenges and triumphs experienced by women seeking recovery, especially those who are also nurturing and supporting their children. Women often face the dual burden of overcoming addiction while fulfilling the role of primary caregiver, making their path to recovery particularly complex yet profoundly impactful. Furthermore, while addiction is a challenge faced by many, it is often met with stigma and silence.
By highlighting powerful stories of recovery, Recovery Awareness Month aims to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and reinforce the importance of specialized support services. Recovery is not just an individual achievement but often is a family transformation, and creating supportive, comprehensive environments is crucial for both women and their children to build a healthier, brighter future together. Chrysalis House strives to continue to create a space where women and their children can find hope, healing, and a new beginning. Our residential treatment and intensive outpatient/outpatient programs aim to provide individualized and therapeutic, holistic care. Clients at Chrysalis House are able to benefit from and enjoy yoga, sound bath therapy, Acudetox, Therapeutic Gardening and more!

Recovery Friday Speaker Series
Chrysalis House has been honored to feature remarkable speakers during our Recovery Friday series!
We welcomed Angel Traynor, Founder and Director of Serenity Sistas', and her colleagues, whose stories offered invaluable knowledge, hope, and inspiration—reminding us that together we can overcome challenges!

We were also privileged to hear from Alex Kaufman Tingler, a proud alum and former employee of Chrysalis House Inc. Alex shared her incredible journey of flourishing and achieving years of sobriety, highlighting the profound impact of the support and tools provided by CHI. Angelia Poore, another CHI alum, also spoke about finding her way in treatment and recovery. Our final speaker, Mariana Newcomb, is a mother who bravely shared her journey of grief following the loss of her daughter, a former CHI client. These honest and inspiring experiences provide insight and connectivity and serve as a beacon of hope and motivation for our clients, reinforcing the transformative power of our community. They have truly made a powerful impact, and our clients have loved hearing from all the speakers.
Therapeutic Nature and Walking Trail
Anticipated to debut this fall, our Therapeutic Nature and Walking Trail aims to offer a serene and healing space for the women and children at Chrysalis House. Imagine a peaceful path surrounded by nature, designed to promote mental wellness, relaxation, and hope. To fully complete this vision, we need to raise $50,000. Your generous support will help us create a sanctuary where our residents can connect with nature and find solace on their journey to recovery. Naming the trail is a unique opportunity that is still available for a donation of $25,000.

The Akoya Pearls: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
Chrysalis House is profoundly grateful for the incredible support and generosity from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA), is an international service organization, founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women.
Their recent adoption of Chrysalis House Inc. and the thoughtful donations of diapers, baby wipes, comfort sets, and toiletries will make a world of difference to the women and children we serve. Their commitment to making a positive impact in our community is truly inspiring, and we look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership.

Chrysalis House was thrilled to unveil some of our brand-new signage from Fast Signs (Annapolis, MD), shining a spotlight on the incredible namesakes and donors who make our mission possible. Debra Tribble, CHI Chief Residential Officer, named the Children’s Playroom, dedicated to the loving memory of her parents Dr. and Mrs. Dennis H. Tribble. Marot Williamson, CHI Board President and book lover, named the Client Library. Robin Rickard, CEO, named the Butterfly Boutique in memory of her mother Jeanette Sauerhoff. Gabriella Melka, a generous community donor, asked our clients to choose the name for the exercise room which added a personal connection to the space. The clients chose the "Fly Girls Fitness" room. These donations are symbols of the lasting impact and generosity that help us transform lives every day.
