A message from our CEO
The team at Habitat Heartland Ontario are excited to share some new opportunities and projects with our community this September!

We're kicking off the month with the announcement of a new Habitat homeowner family in Stratford. Claire and her children Cameron and Megan are going to be moving into their Habitat home this fall, and we are proud to have partnered with them on their journey to find a safe, stable, and affordable place to live. If you or someone you know is interested in Habitat homeownership, we are currently accepting applications in London and Brantford from families and individuals.

Our construction crew and build volunteers have started work on a refurbishment project in partnership with CMHA Elgin County. Projects like this give us the opportunity to help bring more affordable housing solutions to the communities we serve.

Students of all ages are heading back to school, and our 9 ReStore locations have great deals on everything they need to set up their new living space! We also welcome students aged 16 and up to complete community service hours or co-op placements in the retail, warehouse, or workshop at our ReStores this school year.

Thank you for your continued support, and stay well!
Brian Elliot, CEO Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario
Stratford Homeowner Family Announcement!

Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario is excited to announce that a family has been approved for homeownership in Stratford and will move into their new home this Fall!

Claire and her children, Cameron and Megan, have been busy working on their volunteer hours and, like all families, qualified for housing based on three criteria; the need for housing, an ability to pay an affordable mortgage and a willingness to partner with Habitat.

Their home is particularly special because Habitat Heartland purchased it from one of our former Habitat families, and will resell it to Claire and her family. One Habitat home has now brought two Stratford families strength, stability and self-reliance.

Congratulations Claire, Cameron and Megan! Click here to read Claire's story on our website.
Could you be a Habitat homeowner?

Habitat Heartland Ontario is now accepting applications from families and individuals for our upcoming multi-family builds in London and Brantford. Both builds will include units built to universal accessibility standards.

Summer Students at Habitat!

Meet some of our awesome ReStore summer students we welcomed this year with support from the Canadian Summer Jobs program.

At the Wonderland ReStore, Liam S. enjoyed working in the woodshop, and Eve A. thrived while meeting new people at cash. Cody C. previously volunteered at the Brantford ReStore before joining us as a summer student. Maddie S., Curtis M., Andrew V. have been great additions to the workshop and retail space this summer in the Stratford ReStore. At the St. Thomas ReStore, Tait, Erin and Jordyn worked well as a team all summer long.

Seeds of Stability from Habitat Mexico
Camilo and his wife Manuela are a shining example of the long-lasting positive effects that come from Habitat homeownership. Camilo first heard about Habitat Mexico's work in the early 1990's. Cut off from phone service in this remote town, he frequently made the hours-long journey on horseback to their work site to learn more about Habitat’s construction program and try to convince them to expand their program to his hometown. His persistence paid off in 1995 when Habitat Mexico partnered with Camilo and his wife, Manuela, to build a home of their own — the first Habitat project in their community.

Camilo is proud that his payments toward his home have been reinvested by Habitat so that more farming families in his village can also build homes. Since his inaugural build, more than 30 families have built a home of their own alongside Habitat — each one spurring the next.“We are the example of the seed. We grow it, and we need to care for it to grow more and more,” says Camilo.
