ABSI Science Update
Earlier this summer, the ABSI team planted spat in cages and biodegradable bags on the experimental restoration reefs that were spawned from Apalachicola Bay oysters and reared in ABSI's experimental hatchery. The team has been monitoring the reefs and have found that spat are growing on the restoration materials! WFSU Public Media recently chatted with Dr. Brooke about this progress -- see the coverage here.

ABSI researchers are in the process of sampling the subtidal plots and cages for larval recruitment, oyster growth, and oyster survival. They will begin to analyze their findings over the next few weeks.

Updates on ABSI will be provided at the Oct. 5th Apalachicola City Commission meeting at 6 pm and the Oct. 19th CAB meeting at 8:30 am.
