Animal Pain Awareness Month

Animals often conceal their pain, unlike humans who readily express discomfort. This can make it challenging to recognize when something is amiss. Spending quality time with our pets is crucial for becoming attuned to their health, understanding their normal routines, and noticing behavioral changes that may signal underlying issues. Early detection allows for more effective pain management and helps our beloved companions recover faster.

Common Signs of Pain in Pets

Here are some common signs that your pet may be experiencing pain:

  • Reduced Activity: Noticed a decrease in your pet's usual energy level. They might be avoiding stairs, jumping, or playing as much as before.
  • Changes in Appetite: A loss of interest in food or water can be a sign of pain, though it's essential to consult a veterinarian to rule out other health issues.
  • Grooming Changes: Excessive grooming of a particular area or a decrease in overall grooming could be indicative of pain.
  • Bathroom Issues: Pain can affect your pet's ability to eliminate. Look for changes in urine or bowel movements, and difficulties with using the litter box.
  • Increased Breathing: Rapid or labored breathing might be a sign of pain.
  • Behavioral Changes: Noticed any shifts in your pet's sleep patterns, favorite resting spots, or overall behavior. These could be indicators of discomfort.

If you suspect your pet is in pain, it's crucial to consult your veterinarian for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

GOOGLE REVIEW:

"Best experience I've ever had at a vet clinic! They were able to schedule right away, unlike the other vets in my area it's worth the drive! The people who answered the phones were wonderful and helpful. I arrived early and they still came out and greeted and acknowledged me, they were very informative and caring. They were able to examine diagnose and treat my cats ear infection for about 100$ which is a fraction of what I paid before, and they even gave him a courtesy ear cleaning because they said he was so "unnaturally well behaved" I left my last vet because he unnecessarily manhandled my cat right off the bat, so I'm happy they could recognize that it isn't necessary with his calm temperament. I don't remember specific names but everyone I interacted with was awesome and professional and most importantly compassionate. Again it's 100% worth the 1.5 hour drive for me, I'm excited for my dog to come meet the staff next time!" - Fred M
