SMART GARDENING FOR A

WATER-WISE FALL

As the seasons change, so should your gardening habits! Fall is the perfect time to get your yard ready for cooler months and save water while you're at it.

Try these easy tips:

🍂 Rake and reuse:

Take the leaves you've gathered after raking your yard and recycle them right back into your soil! Shredded leaves make excellent mulch or compost material.

🌱 Plant the right friends:

Drought-tolerant native plants not only will help you save water, they will also bring a new curb appeal to your yard. Plant in the fall so they can establish strong roots before winter.

💧 Adjust your watering habits:

Cooler temperatures mean your plants don't need as much water. We recommend watering three times per day for five minutes each, just two days a week during the fall. Using a smart controller? Great news, it should automatically adjust to fall conditions for you!

Want to switch your system to a smart irrigation controller? SCV Water can help you cover the costs!

DELTA CONVEYANCE PROJECT UPDATE FROM DEPT. OF WATER RESCOURCES

System Flexibility Means Reliable Water Supplies

Every water year is unique, with some being dry and others wet. California’s climate has always been highly variable, and as the climate changes, precipitation patterns are becoming even more unpredictable, wildly swinging from extreme drought to intense precipitation and flooding.

Adding a new point of diversion with the Delta Conveyance Project creates flexibility to adapt to our changing climate while continuing to protect fish and water quality in the Delta, allowing the state to maximize the amount of water captured from high flows and stored for later use.

Four years of data show the Delta Conveyance Project will provide critical water supply benefits regardless of the water year type by adding system flexibility to improve water management and adapt to changing weather patterns and sea level rise.

LAWN REPLACEMENT REBATES

Let us help you transform your yard into something sustainable and good for your wallet! Take advantage of our Lawn Replacement Program's offer of $3 per square foot of grass you convert to water-efficient landscaping.

Why replace your lawn?

💧 It saves water! Turf lawns consume large amounts of water. Replacing them with water-wise landscaping lowers how much water you use.

💸 It saves you money! Less water use means lower utility bills.

🌼 It can look fantastic! Native plants can boost your yard's curb appeal.

The sooner you convert, the sooner you start saving! Help us conserve water and build a greener Santa Clarita, one yard at a time.
