September is a great time for Virginia wine lovers. It marks the beginning of the wine harvest, with celebrations from the mountains to the ocean and everywhere in between. Check out festivals and winery e vents listed in Events and map out your travels in wine country.

LABOR DAY WINE & MUSIC FEST LABORDAY

Live music all day "in the woods" at picturesque Rebec Vineyards. It's a celebration of food, wine, music and artists. Eight wineries will offer tastings in addition to Rebec.

The 22nd annual festival will attract 11 Virginia wineries, 6 craft breweries and 6 food vendors. Three popular bands will entertain on two stages: PG-13 of Soul Expressions will kick off the festival, followed by MOOSSA and headliner Fatty Lumpkin will cap off the day.

VIRGINIA MAKES A SPLASH IN OREGON
Ankida Ridge was a featured winery at the 30th annual International Pinot Noir celebration in McMinnville Oregon at the end of July. They were the only winery from the East Coast invited and the only winery from the Mid-Atlantic ever to be invited. Christine Vrooman, Ankida Ridge co-owner with husband Dennis, presented their Pinot Noir.

Events
Labor Day is annually held on the first Monday of September, this year on September 5. Originally organized to celebrate labor contributions to the US economy, it is now largely a day of rest. Many of Virginia's wineries mark the Labor Day Weekend with special activities, and although too numerous to list here, we encourage you to spend "your day of rest" at your favorite winery.
