Fall 2026 Vaccination Guide

Smart Health for High Blood Pressure

For some Lincoln residents, learning to check their blood pressure has done much more than teach a new skill. It has uncovered a serious health risk—and helped connect them to potentially life-saving care.

Nebraska Extension's Smart Health Program for managing hypertension helps participants practice reducing sodium, increasing physical activity, monitoring their blood pressure, managing stress and understanding their medications.

A recent Smart Health class at the Asian Center not only connected some uninsured participants with healthcare providers, but saved the life of someone unknowingly living with hypertension.

Vaccines for flu, RSV, and Covid will still be available at no cost this fall.

Seasonal Flu: This fall’s vaccine covers 3 strains - updated for 2026-2027, which should mean good protection. Everyone 6 mo.s + should get vaccinated.

RSV: Three vaccines are available including one that is mRNA based. Those 50 + yr.s with high-risk conditions; pregnant women during weeks 32-36; and those over 75 yrs. should get one now.
Note
: Infants under 8 mo.s should get monoclonal antibodies, a preventive medication, not an RSV vaccine.

COVID: There is an updated fall formula. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends all children get the age appropriate vaccine as well as high-risk children or those living with someone who is high-risk . The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends pregnant women vaccinate at any point during pregnancy, when planning to become pregnant, in the postpartum period, or while lactating. The American College of Physicians recommend vaccination for adults and immunocompromised patients.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and protecting the health, wellness, and fitness of Lincoln's children, families, and seniors.

We work to improve wellness policies and conduct community level health research. We collaborate with community partners to promote healthy weights through good nutrition and fitness, improve child and maternal health by supporting breastfeeding, create better patient outcomes by increasing cancer screening and vaccination rates, improving chronic disease management, increasing preventative outreach, and standardizing clinical practices. During public health crises like the COVID 19 pandemic, we help to protect community health by providing science and evidence-based information.
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln also works to improve health equity in our community, addressing disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest burden of chronic disease.  Systemic racism is also a threat to community health. We stand in solidarity with everyone who is fighting for greater equality and justice for all.
