The Jarring of Tomatoes: Two families come together to share their family tradition in a live demonstration at Casa Belvedere

Saturday, Sept. 6: Visit anytime from 8 am to 1 pm

Discover the flavors and traditions of Italy at Casa Belvedere’s Tomato Sauce Jarring Demonstration. Watch as ripe, summer tomatoes are transformed into a delicious sauce reminiscent of Nonna’s kitchen, and see techniques for jarring and preserving it for future enjoyment.

Guests will experience the sights and scents of this beloved Italian ritual and leave with ideas to inspire their own cooking at home.

Caravaggio: A Troubled Genius

Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 7 to 8:30 PM

Free for members, $10 non-members

Join Anita Sanseverino and Snjezana Smodlaka for a fascinating look at the life and work of the artist Caravaggio. a genius who defied tradition and created a new way of painting that differed from what was the accepted ideal of beauty in art, especially pertaining to religious imagery.

It is possible that in today’s world he would be diagnosed with a serious mental illness. Despite his personal demons, in recent times his work is admired, appreciated, understood and highly valued.

Anita will delve into Caravaggio’s life, personally and professionally, his trajectory from lowly apprentice to highly successful painter. Snjezana will show on screen some examples of his work, analyzing his technique, his style and the meaning behind his imagery.

Writing Your Memories Fall Edition: Monthly Virtual Writing Workshop with author Maria Giura

Generative: Writing Memories of “Nature” on Saturday, Sept. 20, 10 am to noon via Zoom. $20 Members, $30 Non-Members.

This workshop will help you unearth memories that center around the meanings of the word “nature.”

No experience necessary: just notebook, pen, and a desire to record the past.

Young DaVinci’s Kids Art Program

The popular Young da Vinci’s Art Academy for children ages 6 to 12 returns to Casa Belvedere for an all-new fall session! Immerse your child in the wonderful aspects of Italian artisanship. Children will create art projects for a cumulation Art Show.

Yoga, Meditation and Mocktails

Saturday, Sept. 13 at 11 am

$25 Members, $35 Non-Members

Experience guided meditation and breath-work to cultivate inner peace, flow through Pilates/yoga movement, deep relaxation during hands-on savasana (restorative pose) with lavender essential oil, and then enjoy a refreshing mocktail.

Fitness classes at Casa Belvedere combine physical, mental and spiritual wellness with breathing exercises, meditation, and physical poses. Personal mat recommended. New this fall: Register for five classes, get the sixth class free!
