Sorsha, an 11-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, traveled from Columbia, South Carolina, for TEER surgery after her mitral valve disease was caught early and before she developed obvious symptoms. Her family chose to act before the condition had a chance to progress.

ChaChi, a 10-year-old Pomeranian, made the 1,035-mile drive from Quakertown, Pennsylvania, to Florida because flying was not a good option with his breathing problems. He had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure in February 2026 and was given an estimated six to nine months to live.

His cardiac evaluation showed severe degenerative mitral valve disease with major regurgitation, making the TEER procedure a viable option to improve comfort and provide additional time with his family.

His family says the change has been meaningful: "Since the surgery, ChaChi's breathing has improved dramatically." Recovery has required intensive medication and careful rest, but they believe he is moving toward a better life. Their strongest reflection on the team is equally powerful: "Dr. Bolfer and his team have given ChaChi a better, longer life."

Molly, a 6-year-old Japanese Chin from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, was in congestive heart failure and declining quickly before her TEER intervention. She struggled to tolerate her heart medications, became extremely ill, stopped eating, and spent two nights in a local veterinary hospital shortly before the surgery. Her family contacted several centers, but CFVC recognized the urgency and was able to schedule her procedure within two weeks.

The improvement afterward has been gradual but remarkable. Molly resumed eating, tolerated her medications better, returned to chewing bones and playing with toys, and eventually returned to her normal routine. Her family says, "The TEER procedure truly gave Molly a second chance and provided our family with precious additional time together." Seaver, an 8-year-old Goldendoodle, came from Glen Head, New York, for TEER surgery after his family learned that his heart condition was more serious than his outward appearance suggested.

Medication had helped keep him stable, but imaging showed continuing mitral valve disease and regurgitation that was expected to worsen without intervention. His family understood that waiting too long could mean losing the opportunity for surgery.

After the TEER procedure, Seaver has continued to look and act like the happy dog his family knows, with the energy to walk and climb stairs as his recovery restrictions eased. His family wrote, "We will be forever grateful to Dr. Bolfer for providing a solution and taking a risk that other surgeons would not." They added, "We appreciate each day with Seaver and get great joy from seeing him continue to enjoy life."

Angelo, an 11-year-old Pekingese, traveled from Columbus, Ohio, after his family found a team that could move quickly. Before his TEER surgery, Angelo had severe mitral regurgitation caused by significant valve prolapse, including ruptured chordae that prevented the mitral valve leaflets from closing normally. His family chose Central Florida Veterinary Cardiology because of the fast response and the opportunity to schedule surgery without a long delay.

Angelo's recovery has brought encouraging changes. His family reports that he has more energy, is eating well again, has regained some weight, and is eager to return to his walks.
