Big things happening in Gunter 💧🏗️

Welcome this new addition to the Gunter skyline! Our 1.5M gallon elevated tank is ready for blasting and paint.

While Gunter makes up a relatively small portion of MSUD's total number of meter connections, much like our service area has grown immensely over the years, there's no doubt the Gunter population is headed in the same direction. And we've never been prouder to keep improving our system so the water is always flowing where it's needed most!

🐘 Wet & wild: A tank this size typically weights in excess of 12 million pounds—for the record, that's about equivalent to 2,000 elephants.

There's lots on tap in September! 🕒 🗓️

📸 Sept 11: National #SchoolPictureDay 🏫

Don't be late to school on the second Thursday in September. You've got to get 'em dressed, out the door, on time and ready to impress —PICTURE DAY is every kid's favorite day of the year lol. Remember, these memories will last a lifetime. Say cheese!

🗳️ Sept 17: National Voter Registration Day 🇺🇸

A day in September (held on a different day every year) where all citizens are urged to register to vote for all elections at all government levels. Timed ideally a few months before some of the bigger elections of the year, the day places information in the hands of the voters at the right time.

🚰 Sept 18: World Water Monitoring Day 🌎

A day reserved to raise awareness about water quality and protection, encouraging public participation in water monitoring and emphasizing the importance of protecting water resources.

💐 Sept 21: National Wife Appreciation Day 👩‍❤️‍👨

Every day, spouses do things for each other, sometimes without thinking. Other times, work and responsibilities get in the way. This observance is a reminder to show some extra appreciation for that special someone.

🇩🇪 Sept 27: 3rd Annual Pilot Point Oktoberfest 🏰

Enjoy the food, fun, and fellowship on the square downtown. Come say hello and get hydrated at the Mustang booth between 12-7pm. We'll have plenty of SWAG for everyone.

🏡 Sept 28: National Good Neighbor Day 🤝

This creates an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other better.

A good neighbor is a blessing, but being a good neighbor feels good, too. Good neighbors often become friends. They watch out for each other, lend a helping hand, and offer advice when asked.

💧✅ Moisture Check: It's all about the soil.

Try this: Before watering, simply insert your index finger into the soil up to your first knuckle (about 2 inches or 5 cm). A cleaner alternative:

Invest in a soil moisture meter without getting your hands dirty.

Outcomes: A) If still damp, you can skip that extra watering session, thereby saving precious resources and putting money back in your pocket. B) If dry, watering may be necessary; however, follow your community's watering schedule, adhering to any applicable drought restrictions.

Remember: As days get cooler and shorter, your lawn is going to typically need less water in return. Rain showers don't necessarily have to be heavy in order to provide the necessary moisture it takes to keep your grass healthy and in good shape.
