increases public safety by assisting in responsible community re-entry for people with histories of sexual offending, focusing on individuals with practical needs and little social support. CoSA does this through "circles," which are groups of trained volunteers who befriend a former offender, offering them social and emotional support while holding them accountable.
September 22 we will have a debrief and discussion at what happened at the General Synod of the Anglican Church in July.
September 29 Norma and Bryan will lead us in a discussion on health care that started with their summer book club.
Sunday, September 29th
we are encouraged by the Calgary Alliance for the Common Good to mark
Orange Shirt Day range Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in the spring of 2013. It grew out of
of having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission, and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.
The date was chosen because it is the time of year in which children were taken from their homes to residential schools, Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
You are encouraged (but not required!) to wear an orange shirt to church on Sunday, September 29th.
If like me you don't have an orange shirt I will be placing a bulk order for the shirts pictured at the top of this email. They are only
each and come in Youth XS, S, M, L and XL and Adult S, M, L, XL, XXL, and XXXL. I do not have sample shirts for you to try or any other insider information about sizing so you're just going to have to guess your size! If you would like to order please email Kelly in the office
or better yet put your name on the order form that will be available in church on Sundays September 1 and 8. We will be putting the order in on September 10th so make sure you have the order in by the 9th!
