FROM THE INCLUSIVE SERVICES LIBRARIAN

Hello! My name is Quinn Brakob (pronouns: they/them), and I’m thrilled to be taking on the new position of Inclusive Services Librarian at the Shorewood Public Library. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee last year with my MLIS. During my time there as a student, I had the pleasure of working at the UWM Women’s Resource Center and LGBTQ+ Resource Center. I’m looking forward to getting to know the Shorewood community and continuing to learn alongside you.

Diversity is vital when it comes to developing, supporting, and sustaining a robust and inclusive community. More than ever, I find it important to create access to a wide variety of viewpoints and information resources, taking special care to represent those voices that have been silenced in our past and overlooked in our present. In this position, I’m excited to “walk the walk” when it comes to inclusive service. I hope to curate a space where everyone is welcome and our community’s information needs can be nourished together.
