Family Story
Emily Kolenda
Emily is not your typical 14-year old. Diagnosed two years ago, Emily bravely faces monthly week-long chemotherapy inpatient treatments. During her treatment-free weeks, she is often back in the hospital due to fevers or other issues. When she is out of the hospital, Emily loves the fun of arcades, water parks and any new adventures that come her way.

A Reason To Believe...
It was an honor to have Maryland's Governor, Larry Hogan, and First Lady, Yumi, visit our
Believe In Tomorrow House By The Sea in August. Their patience, compassion and warmth were an inspiration to our families who were staying with us. As a cancer survivor himself, Governor Hogan clearly connected with each child on a personal level - in fact, he was reunited with Madison, whom he had befriended while he was receiving his cancer treatment. Madison and her family were staying with us.
We appreciate the time Governor Hogan took out of his busy schedule to tour and visit our flagship beach respite home. His support is invaluable, and he has expressed interest in touring The Children's House at Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as our House at Wisp Mountain. We look forward to, and greatly appreciate, the honor of his visits.
