National Recovery Month 2018
September is National Recovery Month, an annual campaign driven by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and FCA is proud to recognize the campaign with its wide range of programs, services and events for individuals and families on Long Island in recovery. This year’s theme is Join the Voices for Recovery: Invest in Health, Home, Purpose, and Community.
Family & Children’s Association (FCA) leads the operations and oversight of THRIVE Recovery Community and Outreach Center in partnership with Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), Long Island Recovery Association (LIRA), and Families in Support of Treatment (F.I.S.T.). THRIVE is funded by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and through private contributions.”
Walking the Walk
To further celebrate recovery month, four outstanding individuals representing THRIVE and the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), which is an affiliate of FCA, will walk across Long Island to spread the word that recovery is possible, treatment is effective, and prevention can work to end the epidemic on Long Island.
Last year, Family & Children's Association (FCA) served over 30,000 Long Islanders and we continue to provide the hope and help individuals and families need to overcome the social injustices and public health concerns that exist today.
