We solve one of the most difficult challenges facing families today...caring for loved ones requiring essential personal home care services.
Next month, our Director of Operations, Marcy Silver, will be leading our team as we participate in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's care, support, and research. Will you stand with us in this fight by joining our team? The Walk is on Saturday, October 22 at the Hunt Valley Towne Centre. Check in is at 8AM and Opening Ceremony and Walk begins at 9AM.

Registration is easy; visit our Walk to End Alzheimer's page to sign up. If you're unable to participate, please consider making a donation to our fundraising efforts. Every dollar you donate helps the Alzheimer's Association® provide care and support to all those facing Alzheimer's and all other dementia, and advance critical research.
September is Self-Care Awareness Month

As September is Self-Care Awareness Month, we wanted to take time to remind you that taking care of yourself is an essential part of everyday life. All too often, we put the needs of others before our own, but the truth is you can’t pour from an empty cup. It’s important to remember that self-care isn’t selfish. It’s necessary and you shouldn’t feel guilty for taking time out to take care of yourself and your needs.

Whichever self-care activities you decide to put into practice, remember to always be kind to yourself. Look for small and simple ways to incorporate self-care into your everyday life and start taking small steps towards self-care.

Caring for an aging loved one is an important responsibility, but sometimes you may not realize when your caregiving duties are having an adverse effect—both physically and mentally—on yourself. Often, friends and family are the first ones to notice. Recognizing any signs of stress and emotional strain early — before you experience the negative effects —can help prevent caregiver burnout.

Some aging adults may need to use appliances with senior-friendly features that can improve their ability to remain safe and independent at home. Although it may not be practical or cost-effective to replace current appliances, here are a few things to consider when shopping for replacements after one breaks down.

Working remotely has enabled many individuals with aging loved ones to become more involved in senior care at home. However, some may find it challenging to balance employment responsibilities with the demands of managing a loved one’s care needs long-term. Whether your senior resides with you or not, an in-home personal caregiver can handle senior care tasks during your work-at-home hours.
Home Modification Checklist

Here's a list to get you thinking about home modifications that can help your loved one stay safe at home longer and age in place.

Bathroom
  • Install grab bars or safety rails for support when getting in/out of tub/shower – never use towel racks or shower curtain rods instead of grab bars.
  • Apply non-slip strips on bathtub and shower floors. ...
