Improve Access to Employment Insurance
It's urgent that the government extend the Recovery Measures as a bridge to permanent EI improvements. If the temporary measures expire, workers will face a huge jump in the current minimum of 420 qualifying hours for both Regular and Special Benefits (parental, sickness, etc.) and the allocation/clawback of separation payments.
Women, racialized workers, and occasional workers in precarious jobs are at particular risk. Download and share a leaflet explaining the issue to your neighbours and co-workers.
We need Members of Parliament to immediately extend the temporary EI measures and implement the permanent changes! Can you help by signing and sharing the petition?

Tell Doug Ford: Stand Up for Public Safety!
Public safety is a provincial responsibility, but how safe is Ontario when the premier lets public safety inspectors languish on strike?
The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) inspectors, unionized with OPSEU, are proud of their work, and all they want is a fair contract. But Doug Ford is making that impossible!
If you agree that people deserve respect at work, union standards, and fair treatment – send an email right now to the Premier!

Starbucks and Unions
The Starbucks unionization wave in Canada is currently centred in Alberta at two locations. This followed a successful drive in Jason Kenney's own constituency last month. Five more Starbucks union drives in the Lethbridge area are pending.
"It's a movement created by the young workers in Canada, especially in Alberta," United Steelworkers organizer Pablo Guerra told CBC. "The young generations, they're looking into the union to have protection."
