Dear Woodbury,
August has come to a close, and with that it means Fall is right around the corner. That means back to school for the kids, and cooler weather is on the way. I am definitely ready to put away the sunscreen and break out the sweaters.
Hollow Park is going to be very busy this month. The Fire Department Carnival will be happening September 3rd-5th with a firework display on the last night sponsored by Parks and Recreation. We will be hosting our 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 8:45am on Friday, September 11th. Then on September 13th, we are holding our first ever Glow Walk for Hope in honor of September being Suicide Prevention Month. Lastly on September 20th, the Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their annual Fall Festival. I hope to see many of you at the park for these events.
Out in the parks the maintainers have been working hard to stay on top of the rapidly growing fields and trails. I am sure many of you can relate to how fast everything is growing and how often lawns need to be mowed. We are also working with the public works department to ensure that all of our open walking spaces are accessible. While the weather is still warm, I recommend going for a walk or a hike and exploring our beautiful spaces (a recommendation I will echo as the leaves start to change over the next 2 months).
Itโs been a great summer here. Between our summer camps and the concert series there have been memories made and good times had by so many people in town. I hope you will join us in the coming weeks as we make new memories together.

September is Suicide Prevention Month. Join Woodbury Parks & Recreation and Wellmore Behavioral Health for a FREE 1-mile community walk focused on hope, connection and supporting those who may be struggling and to remind one another that no one has to walk alone.

Instructor Chrys Prip makes the language approachable with a focus on conversation and building practical language skills. Each class also includes a look at Italian culture and history. | | Nonnewaug Basketball Club (grades K-8)~ Registration is now open for the 2026-27 basketball season! Programs are available for boys and girls in grades K-8. Move, Stretch & Recharge ~ We're adding more ways to fit a morning class into your week! Beginning in September, Megan Lutz will offer a new Friday morning Essentrics class, along with her Tuesday evening class. Her Vinyasa Yoga & iRest Yoga Nidra schedule is also expanding with a new Tuesday morning option beginning September 29.
Single-class registration is available for all classes, making it easy to find a time that works for you.

| | Country Night at Hollow Park ~ Dust off your boots and join us for another Country Night at Hollow Park - an evening of line dancing lessons, open dancing, and fun! | | American Mahjong Introductory Course ~ our American Mahjong for Beginners classes have been filling quickly, and we're now accepting registrations for December! This beginner-friendly class will teach you the fundamentals of American Mahjong, including the tiles, rules, National Mah-jongg League card and how to put it all together to play the game. No previous experience is needed. | Adult Drop-In ~ Our adult drop-in sports are back! Women's 18+ Basketball meets Thursday evenings at Mitchell Elementary School, Men's 30+ Basketball plays Tuesday evenings at Woodbury Middle School, and Adult Co-Ed Volleyball meets Thursday evenings at Woodbury Middle School. Trunk or Treat returns to Hollow Park on Halloween night!
๏ปฟCome dressed in costume and make your way through a park full of decorated trunks, treats and Halloween fun. This free community event is open to residents of the Region 14 School District, and we'll once again be collecting non-perishable food donations for the Community Service Council of Woodbury. If you would like to decorate a trunk and hand out treats, we'd love to have you join us - trunker applications are now available (link below)!
