New rehab hospital to open this month

If you know someone who needs specialized recovery from a serious injury or illness, PeaceHealth Springfield Rehabilitation Hospital in Springfield, Oregon could be an option. It opens later this month.


The new 42-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital will help people who have experienced an acute injury, impairment or illness such as an orthopedic injury, cardiovascular or pulmonary issue, stroke or trauma.

Neurology


Diana Spann, DNP, AGACNP-BC has joined the neurology department at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. Diana earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in acute care from Seattle University. Her extensive training has spanned hospital medicine, trauma and acute care surgery. In-person Stroke Support Group

The in-person meeting happens 1 to 2:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of every month. The next meeting happens Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Marquis Eugene at 565 Country Club Road, Eugene.


Heart Walk and Talk

Join this free monthly outdoor walking group from 4 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3. All are welcome! Learn from our heart-health experts while you get fresh air and walk along the scenic paths at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. It's held the first Thursday of every month on the path by the arches near the emergency room. Free parking is available in designated OHVI parking. Please do not use ER parking.


Springfield Block Party

Saturday, Sept. 12 from 4 to 10 p.m. in downtown Springfield. Browse booths, mingle with neighbors and enjoy live entertainment and great food at this annual gathering.


Eugene Family YMCA’s 5th Annual Welcoming Festival

Virtual Stroke Support Group

If you've had a stroke, talking with fellow survivors can help you heal. Our online support group meets 10:30 a.m. to noon the third Wednesday of every month. The next meeting is Sept. 16. Email StrokeCenter@peacehealth.org or call 541-222-8461 to get the Zoom link.

 

Bloodworks Northwest Blood Drives

Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Make your appointment for this drive or others in our community online or call 1-800-398-7888.

 

Live Lifestyle Medicine class series
