Are you running the Bellingham Bay Marathon? Here are some tips for fueling your race.

One of PeaceHealth's dietitians, Victoria Witrak, RD, offers a few insights on what to eat before, during and after a big race.

If you're not running, join us in cheering on racers in the marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K. We'll be stationed along the course offering first aid and at the finish line, ringing those famous cowbells!

Ride the Teal Wave: Paddling for a Cure in Bellingham Bay

On Sunday, Sept. 3, bring your kayak, paddle board or canoe for a leisurely paddle along Bellingham Bay to raise awareness and funds for ovarian cancer research. Paddlers should arrive by 12:30 p.m. to register for the event and launch from the Community Boating Center in Fairhaven at 1 p.m.

Mended Hearts is hosting a Heart Health Fair with specialists staffing tables on specific heart topics from 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Sept.16. Out of the Darkness Walk

Join the Whatcom County Lions Club in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Bellingham High School, 2020 Cornwall Ave. in Bellingham. The one-mile walk supports education and programs to reduce the rate of suicide. Onsite registration begins at 9 a.m., and the walk begins at 10:30 a.m.

Learn how to recognize and respond to an overdose in this online class at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6 and at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29. It's open to anyone in Skagit County age 16 or older.


Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Class

Learn the three steps anyone can take to save a life from suicide in this free online class from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12 and from 3-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28. It's open to anyone age 16 or older.


Online WIC Breastfeeding Class

Tips and information to help you and your baby get feeding off to a good start at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21 in English and 2:15 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21 in Spanish. The class is open to all pregnant people in Skagit County. You do not need to be a WIC client.
