New Dentist event is Thursday
Virtual presentation on teledentistry is just days away!

There's still time to register for the Zoom presentation at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17. Dr. Nathan Suter will present a helpful program on Teledentistry.

New Dentists, 10 years or less out of dental school, are invited to the event. Be sure to stay for the raffle and a virtual bar demo with Chicago bartender Daniel DeOliviera of Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits, who will demonstrate the makings of two tasty tequila drinks.

Dr. Suter, consultant and owner of @Access Teledentistry, is a University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry grad. He implemented the first teledentistry program in Missouri, opening access to dental care for more than 1,200 patients in its first year of operation. The recipient of several awards, Dr. Suter began his teledentistry consulting company last year.

ISDS rolls out Illinois Dentists Salute 2020 for vets
Gearing up for Veterans Day on Nov. 11, the Illinois State Dental Society is again spearheading a program to connect dentists with veterans in need of oral care.

The turnkey format of Illinois Dentists Salute allows member dentists and their offices to choose when, where, and how they wish to participate; what free dental services they will provide; and how they will arrange their appointment schedules to accommodate veteran patients.

ISDS will help with planning, promotion and reaching prospective veterans in need.

Dentists with practices within the confines of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District should visit the MWRD's website for the One-Time Compliance Report to file for the U.S. EPA's dental amalgam program.

The compliance report must be completed and filed by Oct. 12.

For those outside the MWRD, which covers most but not all of Cook County, check your water bill to find out your governing authority.

There is a proposal calling for the Board of Directors to approve the appointment of a New Dentist (a CDS member under the age of 40) to serve on the CDS Board for a one-year term. The New Dentist would be a non-voting member of the Board and could receive an honoraria/per diem in an amount to be determined by the Board during the annual budgeting process.

The proposed change will be voted upon at a future Regional Meeting.
