RI C-AIM Postdoctoral Fellowship Applications Open
Through support of the National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (NSF EPSCoR), RI C-AIM is seeking creative, motivated, and dynamic candidates for one or more Postdoctoral Fellowship positions that bridge key research areas being pursued by RI C-AIM. 

Application Deadlines: First Consideration, Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019
Second Consideration, Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019.

Organized by the   Metcalf Institute, this workshop offers RI C-AIM faculty and graduate students guidance on   creating a compelling–and brief!–presentation as they prepare their talks for the 2019 All-Hands meeting (click for meeting page) .

Those who have signed up will receive a follow-up email with a workshop location shortly.

Student Spotlight
2019 SURFs Gabbi Pantoni & Devyn Barazza
Gabbi Pantoni and her research on abundance changes in kelp over time in Narragansett Bay (click to read) this summer with mentor Dr. Lindsay Green-Gavrielidis was highlighted by the University of Rhode Island's news outlet, URI Today. In the piece, the senior talks about her SURF experience and desire to both conduct research and teach. Congrats!
Devyn Barazza 's poster, " Assessing Biomolecular and Spatial Distribution of Marine Biofilm on PDMS ," was awarded Top Poster in STEM at URI's Showcase for Undergraduate Research, Scholarly, and Creative Works on Sept. 25. She worked this past summer with URI's Dr. Vinka Craver and grad student Kayla Kurtz . Great Job!

RIN2's Irene Andreu talks @URI Physics Colloquium

Dr. Irene Andreu, Director of Operations for the RI Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, will speak about this RI EPSCoR core facility's latest work and equipment. The event is free and open to all.

The talk will be held at URI's East Hall, Room 112.
Faculty Opportunities
In partnership with RI C-AIM, The RI Research Alliance is offering Collaborative Research Grants. Successful submissions will address RI C-AIM's research questions regarding Narragansett Bay: assessing resilience, understanding ecological complexity, developing new tech to monitor changes in the bay, increasing engagement through data visualization, improving sustainability, and successfully capturing large data sets.

Full proposals due by Friday, Oct. 18 2019
Recently reauthorized through a $12 million appropriation, DEPSCoR is offering funding to full-time faculty in eligible states to enhance the capabilities of higher education institutions to "develop, plan, and execute science and engineering research" that is related to the mission of the Department of Defense.

Student Opportunities
VIEW Northeastern is an opportunity designed to increase the diversity of students who pursue PhD programs. At this informational event on Oct. 25 , students from historically underrepresented populations will learn more about research options at Northeastern University in pursuit of a research doctorate.

The American Association of University Women supports doctoral students in all fields of study through its American Fellowships program, supporting doctoral and post-doctoral candidates

Applications for all fellowship awards are due by Friday, Nov. 1, 2019.
The U.S. Dept. of Energy's SCGSR program provides supplemental awards to U.S. graduate students to pursue thesis research at a DOE laboratory/facility in areas that address scientific challenges central to the Office of Science mission.

Applications due by Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019.

Program director positions open @NSF
The National Science Foundation has announced a nationwide search to fill multiple program director positions for its Convergence Accelerator Program (Office of Integrative Activities). Formal consideration of interested applications will begin October 14, 2019 and continue until these positions are filled.
