In an effort to make PPR Training more accessible to everyone, we will be holding FOUR training classes across the district over the next year.
The fall class scheduled for the Northern Neck part of the District will be held at Irvington UMC in Irvington (26 King Carter Drive, Irvington) on Tuesday, September 10 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm.
Please let us know if you will be able to join us by Friday, September 6.

Williamsburg Area: Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025 at Williamsburg UMC
(as part of the District Training Day)
Fredericksburg Area: Monday, April 28, 2025 at Hillcrest UMC in Fredericksburg at 6:30pm
Hampton Roads Area: Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at St. James UMC in Hampton at 6:30pm

The route for this year’s Peninsula Crop Walk will start and finish at Grace United Methodist Church, 1209 Country Club Lane, Newport News, as it has in previous years. Whether you are a first-time participant or a long-time walker, now is the time to start planning to participate this year. The process is easy:
- Select a coordinator to be your group liaison with the CROP Walk Committee and the walkers from your congregation or group.
- Get materials for publicity from the CROP Walk Committee and help walkers secure sponsorships
- Walk on Sunday, October 20.
Registration will begin 1:15 p.m. with the Walk starting at 2:00.

Join us for the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) Team Leader Training on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at VAUMC Conference Center!
This training is for individuals who have attended at least one UMVIM trip and who are ready to take a deeper dive into servant leadership and leading UMVIM teams. This training will be led in collaboration with Tim Wells, VAUMC UMCIM Coordinator, Rev. Jo Ann Batteiger, Assistant Director of Missional Engagement, along with support and shared lessons learned from other certified/experienced team leaders.
Check in will begin at 8:30 AM with light refreshments available, and the class will begin promptly at 9 AM with breaks in between. Registration for the class is $20, and lunch will be provided. Once you have registered, an online training manual will be provided via email, however, if you desire a printed copy, we ask that you print and bring it with you in whatever format you prefer. Additionally, we ask for you to bring a little team spirit and a servant’s heart!

Clergy invited to Day Apart with Bishop Sue
Calling all clergy! Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson invites you to attend the Clergy Day Apart entitled "Dreaming Forward" on October 10, 2024, at Floris UMC in Herndon, Va. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There are in-person (full-day) and streaming options (half-day) to choose from.
Rev. Dr. Laceye Warner will kick the day off with worship, followed by an address from Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson. Next, we will hear a keynote from Dr. Joy Kreider, a neuroscientist and trauma consultant who will address the trauma that pastors face and how we can move forward from it together.
Provision Church will serve lunch, and the afternoon will be filled with workshops led by Rev. Dr. Laceye Warner, Dr. Joy Kreider, Rev. Dr. John Obeng, Rev. Cassandra Nunez from the Baltimore-Washington Conference, and Rev. Dr. Jason Stanley. The day will end with worship and the sacrament of Holy Communion. Welcome to Called to Lead: 2024 VAUMC Youth Retreat. The retreat is open to all youth (6th-12th grade). Registration is for groups only. No individual registrations are allowed. You must be registered through your youth leader and church.

Event: United Methodist Men School Supplies Drive
The UMM conducted a successful School Supplies Drive in August, with many items donated and delivered to our local Elementary (and High School). Through the combined efforts of the Colonial Beach UMC congregation, the community Quarter Gym Exercise group (which meets in our church facility), and the United Women in Faith (contributing $500!), over 200 items were purchased and donated along with $300 in Wal-Mart gift cards provided to the school for future needs.

Benn's UMC in Smithfield is having their "World Famous" Chick-A-Que on Saturday, September 7th from 11:00 am-3:00 pm. 1/2 Carolina style chicken, baked beans, coleslaw and a roll for $12.00.
