Dear Residents,
Please find the latest update on the progress of the Septic to Sewer Conversion Project in your neighborhood below:
SW 85th Street
- Overall Restoration work has been completed, and initial system testing has also been completed.
Water Main Reroute/Pump Station (Easement Area):
- Water Main Reroute work the front of the existing meter at 5991 SW 85 St was completed. (Second/final phase of the water main reroute work to resident’s water to occur when meter box and meter are relocated in Sept/Oct.).
- Residents can expect to see workers, equipment, and supplies in/around the easement area until the completion of the pump station. The contactors were advised to keep the work/equipment contained within the easement area.

The Contractor has scheduled for the wet well installation for tomorrow Friday 8/15. Residents can expect a large crane to be built onsite to load in the wet well into its location in the easement. Work is expected/planned to be completed by EOB on 8/15.

All three roads leading to easement (SW 85th Street and SW 60th Ave) area will be closed allowing local traffic only on Friday 8/15. Our South Miami Police Department will be on site to provide traffic/deliveries guidance.
- The duration of the work in the easement should be expected to last approximately 3 months* to complete the pump station (If unexpected delays arise we will notify/update the residents on the timeline for the completion).
- The contractor will reinstall temporary fencing on east side of easement when excavation is completed.
Miscellaneous:
- The contractor has been reminded to clean up all waste and debris daily.
- The contractor has been reminded of the need for tree protection during crane operations related to pump station installation.
As a reminder:
- Final road resurfacing by the City will occur at the end of the project.
- Dead grass is being replaced as needed.
- Individual property restoration items are being addressed on a case-by-case basis and will be finalized and shared with residents as completed.
