MAIN MESSAGE

A Look Back with Gratitude

As I reflect on the last four months, I am truly grateful for the many moments when our dedicated team of Sequoia volunteers stepped in to make things happen. You can feel the excitement from those who lean in—our volunteers get just as much out of their service as they put into it.

August & September

We focused on Staff Appreciation and preparing for 9th Grade Orientation.

October

A full month of activity: we kicked off our Membership Drive and Reflections program, sold Holiday Wreaths and staffed Football Concessions, funded Mini Grants, and supported the 8th Grade Parent Tour and Shadow Day activities.

November

Our efforts centered on Family Center drives and essential PTSA administrative duties, including the annual audit and tax submission.

We also celebrated a meaningful moment of community connection at the PTSA/ELAC Holiday Potluck, which brought our families together around food, music, and shared traditions. A heartfelt thank you to Elvira Macias for her partnership and support as we continue to revamp and strengthen our joint PTSA/ELAC meetings.

Throughout it all, our EXTRAORDINARY Sentinel team continued producing our state-of-the-art weekly publication to keep our community informed, and our Executive Board kept the machine running smoothly.

A very special shout-out goes to our wonderful Hospitality Team — Katherine Schembri and Stacie Ciraulo — for their tremendous work ensuring our teachers and staff feel recognized and appreciated throughout the year.

They will need volunteer support for the Holiday Staff Luncheon on December 18, so please keep an eye out for opportunities to help.

And a huge shout-out to our Treasurer, Isila Oliver, who has been working tirelessly to ensure our finances are in good standing, keeping track of every check, payment, and reimbursement with precision and care. The PTSA simply could not function without her essential work and steadfast dedication.

Looking Ahead to 2026

The new year will bring many exciting opportunities to get involved. From Membership and Staff Appreciation to Basketball Concessions and preparations for 2026 Grad Night, we’ll need helping hands. Look for volunteer callouts in the Sentinel for ways to sign up.

Beginning in 2026, PTSA will shift to four General Meetings per year to make participation easier and ensure each gathering is focused, meaningful, and engaging.

Our first General Meeting of the year will be held January 13, with a special focus on mental health and will feature the wonderful Rebekah Howard. Don't miss this opportunity to join this impactful session!

Holiday Cheers

As we head into this festive season, we hope you find time to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments with family and friends. Thank you for everything you do to support our Sequoia community.

Wishing you warmth, joy, and peace throughout the holidays.

Volunteer: PTA Treasurer for 2026-2027 School Year

As we look ahead to next year, an essential position that must be filled for the 2026–2027 school year is the PTSA Treasurer. Without this role, the PTSA cannot operate—we won’t be able to approve a budget, manage funds, or run our programs.

The Treasurer role is vital but very manageable, and training and support will be provided. If you’re organized, responsible, and willing to help, we would be incredibly grateful.

Please reach out to fnmonet@yahoo.com if you’re interested or have questions. Our PTSA truly can’t function without someone stepping into this role.

Thank you!

Support the class of 2026: Purchase from Honey Bear Trees

The Sequoia PTSA is thrilled that Honey Bear Trees is back for the holidays and is open for business. Mention Sequoia PTSA or bring the flyer below to their San Carlos location at 1579 El Camino Real, across from Trader Joe's.

Honey Bear Trees will donate 15% of your tree and/or wreath purchase to the Sequoia PTSA, which will use the funds to support the senior class’s safe and sober graduation celebration.

SHSEF

Thank You to Our Donors!

Giving Tuesday was a success!

Thank you to everyone who donated to SHSEF on Giving Tuesday. Because of your gifts, we’ve raised over $240k toward our $650k goal, which will enable us to fund impactful staff members, including a second college counselor and a mental health counselor.

We rely on our community’s generosity to raise funds for critical programs for ALL Ravens. Help us reach the halfway point of our fundraising goal before December 31! NOW is a great time to look for holiday/year-end corporate matching from your employer. This giving season, consider a gift to SHSEF at the $1500 per student recommended ask or any gift that is meaningful to your family. Donate today.
