Give your gently used formalwear a new life… for Sequoia Prom 2025!

The Sequoia Family Center, SHSEF, and PTSA are organizing our annual Sequoia Prom Gallery for March 31 & April 1. Each year Sequoia creates a "store" on our campus so students can "shop" for a prom outfit, completely free. Many hard-working Sequoia teens and their families are excited about Sequoia's upcoming prom but are worried about the huge cost of buying or renting formalwear. Sequoia is committed to making prom an inclusive, fun milestone event for ALL of our students.

We need formal dresses (mostly long styles), modern suits (black or dark preferred), tuxedos, ties, dress shoes (women's & men's), fancy costume jewelry, small clutches, etc. CLEAN and stain-free in ALL sizes!

You can donate by:

  • Leaving items at the organizer’s home: 43 Finger Ave., Redwood City, from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Send Ann a text at (617)835-9586, so she knows the items are arriving.

  • Dropping donations off at the Sequoia Family Center on campus, Rm 129, 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Let Elvira know you’re coming at (650)367-9780 ext. 63110.

Thanks for your help in making everyone feel and look great at prom!

SHSEF Funds student-led journalism at the Raven Report

Did you know The Raven Report is produced by the journalism class as a student-led, project-based class? Students are editors and staff reporters. They conduct interviews, write stories, learn Adobe InDesign, and collaborate to inform the wider school community. For the past two years, journalism teacher Meg Diepenbrock and her students have updated the Raven Report to broaden readership and accessibility. Thanks to your support, SHSEF is able to help fund the Raven Report! Invest in preparing our students with skills for the future. Donate Today!

Seeking volunteers for Sierra Club trips with Sequoia ESL students

Sierra Club Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) hosts outdoor trips for students in the ELD/EML program at Sequoia High School. This past weekend, 20 students spent a sunny winter day at Wilder Ranch State Park near Santa Cruz exploring the bluffs and beaches.

ICO offers both day trips and overnight trips, and we are looking for volunteers for both. Just a few easy steps to becoming a volunteer with the reward of spending time outdoors with eager, thoughtful students and other volunteers.

Please contact one of the following San Jose ICO volunteers, Kim Freitas or Stacy Schmidt Wenzel, to learn more about volunteering. Our next trip is Mar. 22-23 with day and overnight volunteer options.
