The friendly church where you're always welcome!
Greetings!

I am so thankful that we can praise and worship God together virtually this morning. This is a glorious day and a great day to praise and worship God.

This morning we look at the story of Elijah and when he was running for his life and heard God. He was running, his life was falling apart and so he went to search for God. He did not find God in the rushing wind, the earthquake, or the fire but he found God in the still silence.

This is a great reminder for us and how we may oftentimes not hear God speak in our lives because we look for God in the wind, earthquake, or fire instead of listening to God in the silence. God is always at work in our world and always speaking to us in our lives and we must take time to listen for God. I want to challenge all of you to set aside time each day to be in complete silence as we listen to God and the guidance that God has for us in our lives.

God is always with us and is always beside us in the midst of any darkness we face.

HURRICANE ISAIAS
With Hurricane Isaias coming and us getting into the heart of hurricane season, it is important for us to all be there for each other. Though Isaias should not affect us much, it is still important for us to reach out to our family, friends, and neighbors and see if they need anything. During this hurricane season, and all points in life, it is important for us to all come together and help each other. If you or someone you know needs any help with anything, please reach out and we will all work together to make sure everyone is cared for.

We will be having our midweek phone prayer meeting on Wednesday at 11 AM. See below for more details on how to join us. Prayer is so important right now, so I want to invite you all to our midweek prayer time as we continue to be in prayer for each other, our neighbors, families, friends, the nation, and the world. Come and bring all of your prayers to God.

Have a blessed day,
Pastor Jeff

19 Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life like the life of one of them by this time tomorrow.” 3 Then he was afraid; he got up and fled for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongs to Judah; he left his servant there.
But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a solitary broom tree. He asked that he might die: “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my ancestors.” 5 Then he lay down under the broom tree and fell asleep. Suddenly an angel touched him and said to him, “Get up and eat.” 6 He looked, and there at his head was a cake baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again. 7 The angel of the Lord came a second time, touched him, and said, “Get up and eat, otherwise the journey will be too much for you.” 8 He got up, and ate and drank; then he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God. 9 At that place he came to a cave, and spent the night there.
Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10 He answered, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away.”
Elijah Meets God at Horeb
11  He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him that said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 14 He answered, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away.” 15 Then the Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus; when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael as king over Aram.

UMW News : We are moving forward with tentative plans to meet for summer lunches. Hopefully, we will be able to meet for our first lunch in July. Watch for news regarding the summer lunches, a fun time for everyone, church-wide! We plan to have our UMW salad bruncheon on Saturday, September 12 at 9:30 a.m. in the Hill Building. This is only if restrictions are lifted and we plan to be safe as we meet.
Are you calling a friend? Reach out to someone with a phone call or a card. If we each stay in touch with one or two friends each week, the circle of caring grows and continues. We need each other. You are not alone—there are so many waiting to hear from you and ready to help if you have a need. Pick up your phone and your UMW address/phone list.
You matter. We are all looking forward to being together in person when the time arrives. Be safe!
