Juneteenth
From today's WSJ by John J. Miller

Augustus Tolton was born into slavery on a Missouri farm in 1854.
When the Civil War broke out, his father escaped and joined the Union Army and was killed in battle. His mother escaped to Illinois with Augustus and 2 other siblings. No American seminary would accept him. He attended seminary in Rome. He returned to the US and became Pastor of St. Joseph's in Quincy, Illinois. Father Tolton died of a heatstroke in Chicago in 1897. Pope Francis named him Venerable on June 12, 2019.
An important Catholic to honor on Juneteenth.
