A Message From Our President
As Jesus taught us, never stop being kind -- just one act of kindness each day makes a huge difference.  If we could all just do one act of kindness per day, can you imagine the world we could help create?

Never underestimate the power of being kind.

Memorial Mass
Please join us on Tuesday, November 1 at 9:30 a.m. in the Muzzy Family Student Activity Center, as we celebrate our special Memorial Mass on All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation. This beautiful Mass, where we honor any students/parents/alumni of St. Junipero Serra Catholic School, and any of our loved ones who have gone home to our Lord in Heaven, is one of our many wonderful traditions here at our school.

We have adopted the symbol of the butterfly to remind us all of the beauty of life that continues on in the eternal life with God in Heaven. Our Tree of Remembrance, adorned with the Memorial Ornaments, graces our lobby as a reminder of the many loved ones who are now angels in Heaven. These ornaments  will be displayed on the Tree of Remembrance from Tuesday, November 1 through Monday, November 28. ALL ornaments displayed on the tree will be blessed by Fr. Thomas Naval, our celebrant, at the beginning of the Memorial Mass.  Please plan to stay a bit longer as our community moves out to the field at the conclusion of Mass, to release butterflies in honor of all of our loved ones, which is truly a beautiful sight to see.

ALL students in TK - Grade Eight are to wear Formal Uniform that day.

We do have a permit parking exemption for this day so your are able to park in the neighborhood, but NOT in the Memorial Healthcare Facility parking lot.

Missionary Childhood Association- MCA Collection at Mass
At each of our school-wide Masses, the students of St. Junipero Serra support Missionary Childhood Association by making a small donation into our  collection baskets. These monies do not go unnoticed as we serve the poorest children around the world. Thank you for remembering to support this ministry at our annual Memorial Mass  next Tuesday.

PARENT Fellowship & Coffee Social
Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in SJSC Courtyard

Please join us next Tuesday, immediately following St. Serra's annual All Saints Day Mass, for a PTO hosted parent coffee social in the SJSC Courtyard. Light hospitality, coffee and water will be served!
Third Bus/ New Route
Due to the overwhelming response and a growing "wait list" for the St. Serra Bus Program, we are beyond excited to tell you that we have added a third bus and a new route to this thriving program.  This third bus will initially start off with a PM only route and the drop off location is at the Ladera Sports Center (2 Terrace Road, Ladera Ranch).  Our St. Serra families who have been on the bus "wait list" have already starting riding the bus effective 10/24.

At this time, we are happy to open up the sign-up for this bus to the Ladera Sports Center.  If you are interested in riding this bus, please send an email to  [email protected] and we will forward you the documentation you need to fill out/return to us.  All applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.

There is still space available for the AM Routes on both of our existing buses.  We have AM pick-up at 5 convenient locations:  Lake Forest Sports Park, PetSmart in RSM, Coto Sports Park,  Holy Trinity Catholic Church and The Church of Jesus Christ (LDS).

Please e-mail any questions you may have to:  [email protected] .

Note:  All St. Serra Buses are CHP inspected and certified.  Buses undergo inspection every 45 days.  All driver's certifications are inspected and approved by CHP.
Calendar Reminder
As indicated on the calendar, there is no school on Monday, October 31 and Friday, November 4.
God is Good...All the Time.

Christ's Blessings,

Pokemon Card Policy Update
At the beginning of the year, teachers and staff allowed Pokemon cards to be played during dismissal time, in an effort to help keep students occupied and less involved in unwanted behavior. We are finding, however, allowing the Pokemon cards is causing some challenges and too many distractions which are resulting in some major delays with the students listening for their names and loading into their cars. For these reasons, we have included Pokemon cards to be listed in Code 852 Prohibited Items listed in the Parent/Student handbook:

852. Prohibited Items
To ensure the safety of students, their freedom from distraction, and the safety of the items themselves, the list of items prohibited from campus includes but is not limited to: skateboards, rollerblades, skates, iPods, laser pointers, handheld games, chains, pepper spray, Kendamas, Pokemon cards. Pagers and phones that are deemed a distraction to the learning environment may be confiscated.

Consequences:
First Offense - Detention, loss of five merit points, parent/guardian contact
Second Offense - Detention, loss of five merit points, parent/guardian conference with Administration.
